Paper Pocket Watch – Joanne Bain 2019-2020 Introduction

Hello, G45ers!

Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to Fussy Cutting Champion and Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador, Joanne Bain.  For Joanne's #G45Selfie – June Challenge she has upcycled a round tin and used our Hallowe’en in Wonderland – Deluxe Collector’s Edition and Decorative Hardware to create a magical DIY Paper Pocket Watch with a hidden mini album.  So take a look around your house to find a round metal container to repurpose into your own paper crafting masterpiece.

Joanne Bain – Australia

2019-2020 Brand Ambassador

“I am Joanne Bain from Queensland, Australia.

I am a very proud mother of 2 and I am happily married to my best friend and have been for 25 years. He is the best husband a girl could ask for and is very supportive of my paper crafting. Most of my inspiration for this craft comes from my wonderful family and friends and also the beautiful array of products that are now available. When I am not scrapbooking, I am kept busy with all activities involving raising a happy family and I like dabbling around with photography which is perfect as I always have something to scrap.

We live in sunny Queensland, Australia along with our extended family of pets, 2 spoilt dogs, 2 adorable pet rats and a few aviaries of birds. I have been a scrapbooker for 17 years since my daughter was the age of 3 and then 14 years ago along came the other special boy in my life my gorgeous son, many of my creations tend to feature them.

My preferred scrapping preference is 12 x 12 layouts and creating off the page/altered projects. I am not locked into a specific scrapping style, as I am happy to give anything a go but I would describe my style as structured with lots of layers, fussy cut paper cutting, detail, and dimension.

When asked for my first post to create a ‘self-portrait’ project I chose to think out of the box and create something that is a total reflection of something that I love to do, that is to create something beautiful from nothing.

For this project, I chose to create with one of my all-time favourite collections Halloween In Wonderland. This project started life as a plain 3 inch round tin with a lid, I then added some of the G45 Metal Staples to create the top of the watch.

Tip: Adhere our Antique Brass Door Pulls back to back to create this dome-like top to your round tin.  Add a metal knob for an extra special touch.

This project involved lots of fussy cutting, which is something I love to do, it has lots of little details and bucket loads of dimension. I like my projects to have the more you look the more you will see feel to them.

Once the back cover of the watch is removed out pulls a mini album. It is features 6 photo mats with the backings left blank to leave space for journaling.
