Fashion Forward Valentine Cards

By Annette Green

There’s still plenty of time to whip up some Valentine cards. Just grab a few Graphic 45 supplies and go! I challenged myself to see how many Valentine cards I could make with one sheet of the February page from Fashion Forward’s 12 x 12 collection, a few of the Patterns & Solids (including the chipboard templates from the packaging), some cardstock and ribbon. I made four cards and had a little leftover, so I whipped up a cute little tag and pocket set which would be perfect for a gift card, some money, or just a sweet message to your sweetheart.

Fashion Forward Valentine Cards Tips & Notes

1. With just a few supplies, I created a 6” x 6” You Are Loved easel card, 5” x 7” My Darling card, an A2 Be My Valentine tent card, 4 ¼” x 6 ¼” You Are Treasured file folder card, and a tiny tag and pocket set.

2. If you don’t have heart dies, you can use punches or your cutting machine (like a Cricut) to cut hearts of various sizes. It’s fun to tuck some hearts behind popped-up layers for added dimension and interest. I found the pale pink felt heart ribbon for a dollar at my local Target store and I’ve simply jazzed up each heart with some black pearl gems.

3. Easel cards are always so impressive, especially when using dimensional foam adhesive to raise up various elements.

4. In this A2 tent card, I used decorative elements to adorn the cut-aparts. By adding something swirly and pretty like this, it softens the hard lines of rectangular and square elements.

5. Use the templates from the Patterns & Solids chipboard cover to create the file folder shape. I traced the template onto black cardstock. Pretty ribbon makes a great closure for this fun card.

6. After making four cards, I couldn’t stop! I had a few more pieces left so I, again, used the chipboard cover from the Patterns & Solids to make this little pocket and tag set. It’s a great little last-minute Valentine idea.

7. For the A2 card, above, I used the frame die from the soon-to-be-released Policy & Decorative Dies set (coming March 2020). You can use a punch to achieve a similar look.

8. By cutting apart the frame, you can use the pieces as decorative elements in various places.

9. Save any templates you cut out so you can use them over and over again.

10. You can use the templates straight from the packaging like I’ve done here for the pocket and tag, or you can trace the templates like I did for the file folder card.

11. This all I had leftover from creating these fun cards. I love that!” ~Annette

While the art deco look isn't a favorite, I can well appreciate the creative work that went into these interesting Valentine cards.
