Halloween in Wonderland Altered Pumpkin box

“Hello hello, dear Graphic 45 friends and fans. Today I’m back with you to share something from the Dark side of the world. Halloween is nearing and it’s time to put that gorgeous re-released Halloween in Wonderland DCE collection from Graphic 45 into play. This is by far one of the best existing Halloween paper collections ever! I just love it! And I love Alice in Wonderland, so this is just perfect!

Some time ago I bought this ceramic pumpkin with lights and I really really wanted to alter it. And I decided to save it for this paper collection. I could just imagine how well they will work together. I put the pumpkin on a Graphic 45 Black ATC Book Box, so I actually made a box and you can save some delicious Halloween treats in it!

I colored the pumpkin here and there (not the whole surface, because I wanted a bit of that vivid orange color to peek out) with black gesso, to which I added some art stones to make some texture. I then added several shades of violet with Lindy’s and Finnabair colors. I love how it turned out! I then fussy cut lots of elements from the Halloween in Wonderland collection and made a composition on the pumpkin to create a story.

Tip 1: Always pay attention to lots of small details, when making altered art projects. They are the ones that make your project shine in all its glory. Searching for all the surprises on the project is the best part of it!

Tip 2: I love adding “liquids” into miniature cups, vials,... it creates another level of excitement. I often use hot glue gun and color it! Glossy accents works perfectly too, but if you need a lot of it, then it’s better to go with resin.

Tip 3: Always try to create a composition in a way it feels like you are trying to tell a story with it! It matters how you arrange your elements and caracters.

Tip 4: My altered pumpkin is sitting on an ATC Book Box. I always try to find a way of making my altered art projects usefull, not only beautiful!

Interesting project, but a little too detailed for me. I can, however, truly appreciate all the work that went into this project. Spooky!

I really like all the little fussy cuts for this project. Each piece must have been thoughtfully tucked in place for the best dramatic position. It is a wondrous display piece.

Such inspiration to dive into mixed media.Gesso and texture pastes are not usual materials I reach for, but what a stunning result! The saturation of color is what stands out for me. The clock face keys are my new favorite.
