Hello, G45ers!

Today we are going to take a walk through a Winter Wonderland shaker tag ornament with Brand Ambassador Kathy Clement. Her creative project is full of lovely embellishments including ribbons, flowers, bells, berries, and pinecones. On top of that, it upcycles some leftover Graphic 45 packaging you might already have on hand. Check out this wonderful ornament and full Snapguide tutorial below.

Winter Wonderland Ornament Tutorial

By Kathy Clement

“Hello, Friends!  Have you put up your Christmas tree yet?  If so, I hope you have room for just one more ornament because today I’m sharing a festive, sparkling Winter Wonderland ornament tutorial with you.

Best of all, this ornament project uses product packaging as its base, so you are adding Christmas cheer to your home while making good use of an item that would normally go to the landfill.  That’s sure to put you on Santa’s “Nice” list!

Can you guess what product packaging I’ve used?  Yes, indeed.  This is the container for the Graphic 45 Staples Washi Tape Set.  The cylindrical shape and nifty closure make it the perfect vehicle for this dimensional shaker ornament.

This is a project you can make in about an hour, which is always nice during the busy holiday season.

I’ve used the beautiful green print from Winter Wonderland 12x12 patterns and solids along with a border from the sticker sheet and a couple of the pretty chipboard tags to dress up my tag.

Tip: Always look for fun ways to add texture and dimension to your project. A ribbon topper adds lots of texture to the design, which is always fun.

Tip: Faux Snow: Pick up mini pine cones on a nature walk, then add them to your design.  I’ve tapped these with Distress Grit Paste to give them a snowy appearance.

Of course, if your tree is already full, this would make a great addition to a Christmas gift basket or cookie plate.  This simple Snapguide tutorial will guide you through the steps I followed in converting this product packaging into a Winter Wonderland ornament.  Let’s get our craft on!” ~Kathy

Christmas Songbird Easel Card

By Kathy Clement

Tips:

  1. To create a quick card focal, use a large circle die to cut the bird image from the paper collection and mat it on a decorative circle die. Back it with foam tabs or waste chipboard to really make it stand out.

  2. Tap miniature pine cones with Picket Fence Distress Paint to add a natural, wintry feel to your card.

  3. Tie a trio of small, rusty jingle bells together with burlap string to decorate the easel card stopper.

  4. To add to the rustic feel of this card, distress the edges.  I curled the corners around my piercing tool to add to the vintage design.

I have been enamored ever since I visited the Graphic 45 booth at the show in Boston. I am in awe of the beautiful creations I saw at the show and continue to see online. The make it take it was phenomenal and I've been hooked and can't get enough of G45. I have been collecting G45 supplies and purchasing as many as I can so I think I'm ready to jump in the water and get my feet wet. I've always been a card maker but am ready to spread my wings on to bigger and more challenging projects. The tags are absolutely beautiful and a work of art, a good place for me to start I think. Thank you for all the inspiration, I look forward to the emails with new projects every day. The tutorials are the best and the prize package today is absolutely fabulous, what a treasure trove of products.
