Little Women Cards
By Sandy Trefger
“I love creating cards and my favorite size is the standard A2 (4.25” x 5.5”) which is the size that I made these three Little Women cards in. I’m often inspired to make cards after I finish a major project and have just a few full sheets from a collection left and some scraps. That’s how these three came to be. I love layering the scraps of different patterns to come up with a unique and special card. All three of these could be used as love cards or hello or thinking of you.
Tip 1: No matter how small a scrap of patterned paper you might have left from a larger project, you may be able to use it as a layering piece on a card. Lay out all your scrap pieces that you’ve trimmed down to fit on a card base to see how they best go together. You may want to fussy cut out some of the images and layer those over each other. A busy patterned piece will look good layered behind a more neutral or less busy piece such as the floral background on the card above paired with the “book pages”.
Tip 2: Finished cards do take up space and if you find you have limited room for many cards, consider creating just the card front and store them in a box so that when you need a card you can quickly attach the front to a base. This lessens the bulk of storing cards as you can get many more card fronts in a box.
Fun Fact: In my earlier days, I loved the Hallmark card shop and would spend hours selecting several cards for different occasions to have on hand. Then with the arrival of email and Facebook, I found that I no longer sent out as many cards as I once did. That’s a bit sad and even though I now make cards I seem to mostly sell them or give them to charities to sell or use. I’m hoping that this year I will start mailing cards even if it’s for no particular reason except to say “Hello.” I want to brighten someone’s day now and then. Maybe you’ll join me.
I love this set of cards and this beautiful Little Women paper collection. I’m sure you’ll love it too!
Happy Crafting.” ~Sandy Trefger
You and Me By the Sea Altered Frame
By Pam Bray
“Hi G45 Fans! I love creating home décor using inexpensive photo mats frames. It is easy to alter photo frames when you have beautiful collections like the newest collection from Graphic 45 called “Sun Kissed”. This home decor frame is a perfect accent to either place in a frame or to display using an easel. Pam”
Cover inexpensive mat frames to create fabulous home décor pieces.
Fussy cutting around flower petals and pushing them up creates wonderful dimensional flowers.
Adhere pattern paper to frame. Add “You and Me By the Sea” Epherema Card behind the frame. (Adhere cardstock to back of frame to have a finished look on the back of frame.) Die cut doily from pattern paper; adhere to front of the prepared frame.
Paint chipboard cobblestone with white paint. Adhere to front of the prepared frame.
Fussy cut images from pattern paper, layer to the front of the prepared frame. Fussy cut second set of images; add to the front with pop dots.
Fussy cut second images of flowers; make sure to cut around each of the petals to form the dimension for flowers. Adhere to front of frame at the center of flowers.
Fussy cut turtles from paper; layer together with pop dots. Add to front of the frame.
Fussy cut a few more flowers to finish the frame. Repeat on making the flowers.
