Craft Studio Tour

By Magda Cortez

“OMG! This time is the time to show you my scraproom… and as many of you know I’m the Queen of movings!!! I’m going to tell you something.. I just unpack and put together my scraproom back in November and maybe by the time you read this post I’ll be moving to another house.. Oh well that’s my life! Hahaha..

Ok.. I’ll tell you what I did to show you the real Magda’s Scraproom.. Because I always look scraprooms and I said ..mmm no.. that’s not real.. Everything clean and not even a pencil in a place where it not belong.. When I saw those scraprooms I think they never use it.. Don’t you think? Well here is my TWO versions..

Version ONE -

When my scraproom is ready to work.. I like to clean everything before start a new project then I can mess up in maybe 5 min! ← I suggest to see the video before continue reading!

Magda’s Scraproom Video Tour

Version TWO - 5 minutes after I start a project… Pictures below

Yes.. this is the same desk you saw in the video :P and believe me it is clean!

Yes.. I use the floor too!

Who cares if the desk is a mess.. Things on top of others and sometimes my cell phone is buried in all those papers and I can’t find it or my mouse.. That happens to you too?

But you know what.. Believe it or not I like everything in order .. really????

Tip: I use those plastic containers to keep everything in the same place of each collection.

Sometimes I can keep two or three collections in the same container.. Depending how much paper I have.. Inside the containers sometimes I use those freezer plastic bags I think they are 13”x14” to keep every collection, paper, stickers, ephemera cards and also embellishments who can be used in the same collection.

Tip: LABELS! Yes!! I like to label all the wires! On these times we have a wire for every little thing then later we don’t know for what was the wire.. So I label all my wires.. Sometimes I don’t have time to make a nice label but even one from a piece of paper and scotch tape work!

For me containers and labels are the best! That way I always know where everything is at the moment.

Because on this apartment I have lack of light I just got this ring lamp and I’m in so much love! I don’t need anything else.. Also I can attach my video camera so all my problems are solved now! That is an excellent acquisition.

Everywhere I go I love to display my most loved projects and also I start my little collection of souvenirs of the countries I visit..

These are my two shelves with all the staples I have from Graphic 45 and is my stash for my Brand Ambassador Assignments.. The paper is in a different place.

So.. I hope you like the two versions of my scraproom and I would love if you comment something about your scraproom if is similar to mine.. Do you clean to make a mess in 5 min? Or you have your scraproom like a magazine picture? Nah! I don’t think! Hahaha..

Have a wonderful day.. Till next!

Little Women Mixed Media Album

By Magda Cortez

Hi All.. Today I’m going to share with you this beautiful mini album I did for Creativation 2018!

The New Little Women Paper collection is to die! I love the florals the ephemera sentiments the color of the collection everything is beautiful!

For my album I used the Mixed Media Album we can personalize using gesso, metallic paints and mists.

I give something unexpected with tiny wood frames..

Tip: Adding different layers of fussy cutting always give a beautiful dimension to our covers.

This Mixed Media Album come with different kind of sheets .. I love the Ivory Sheets because I can use my mists as part of the decoration.

Also the Vellum pages are beautiful.. You just need to be careful if you are going to use the other side plain..

Tip: For the Vellum pages I just add double sided tape to the center of my image then I add another image in the other side to cover my tape.

Always is a good idea to use those Policy envelopes to keep more pictures or memorabilia in our mini albums.

I didn’t use all the sheets who come with the album but they are enough to make a good size mini album and lots of pictures!

Little Women Paper Collection is so beautiful the colors match any kind of pictures.. I  love the blue specifically!

For my back cover I use another image from the collection also with my paints I give an old look to my book.

I kept for years the blue cameo and I love how it look in my book.. It give the final touch of elegance! I hope you like the album and I hope you love the collection as I love it too!

DIY Collage.jpgDIY Vintage Suitcase-A Ladies Diary- Magda Cortez - Graphic 45- Tutorial- 01 of 11Upcycled Suitcase

By Magda Cortez

"I have this beautiful Vintage Round Suitcase for long time.. it was a gift from one of my friends and it was perfect for this project!! The DIY Craft Paper is super cool to use for the Decopauge technique and it is what my Vintage suitcase needs to Upcycle and Reuse it!

Decoupage technique is the art of decorating an object gluing paper cutouts in layers.. Also in the interior, I use Washi Tape to cover the inside of the suitcase (just the top)…Did You know this washi tape matches with the DIY Craft Paper I chose ?? It was perfect for my project! And Graphic 45 has it all!!

Tip for Decoupage:

1.Don’t use images who can smear with the top coat.

2. Avoid using thick paper (the softer and more flexible is the best)

3. You can tear your paper to make smoother edges but you can also make cutouts with your scissors."

And I was so positive that I was "The Queen of Moving", so happy to see I'm not alone! LoL I just recently bought a small mobile home that will finally be my forever home. I'm currently in the process of setting up my craft studio... It's been a slow process, but it's now starting to look like a home and not a Hoarders Paradise! Every time I move things around, I run across something in my stash that I haven't seen in awhile, or forgot I had, and I inspires me to sit and create something new. Coming to this blog always helps me and gives me more ideas. I've wanted this collection for a long time. I would love to use my left overs from A Ladies Diary with it, as I have so many ideas running thru my head! Thank you for sharing your creative space with me! Especially the photos of what it looks like while in use. Reminds me of what my space looks like as I'm struggling with where to put all the items that are still scattered across my floor! LoL Thanks so much for this Blog's my go to place for inspiration and ideas!

Love the suitcase. I have a vintage rectangular makeup case I am going to do this with now that you inspired me. Thank you

02/20/2018, 11:35:11 AM

Wow! Fantastic projects! And just love your workroom - I would love that. I too keep my paper stash in plastic boxes, but must label them!

Magda, thank you for the tour of your scraproom. It was great to see that I am not the only scrapper who has a clean space that I quickly turn into chaos when I start on a project

Vanessa LeClear:
02/20/2018, 12:05:22 PM

Love the craft room, and both projects are beautiful! Thanks for such great inspiration!

Michele Taylor:

Yes, I clean my space and in 5 min...oh well

I so wish I had space for a craft room. I would love to decorate a vintage suitcase. Love the round shape Magda used. So classy!

Michele Lewis:
02/20/2018, 12:19:51 PM

Magda, I am exactly the same. My table looks like a mess when I am working on something, but I know exactly where everything is! When a project is done, I put everything away and clean my desk. So, Like you, my room is clean for about 5 minutes. I tend to pull out everything I might need for a project at the beginning. I use the same plastic shoeboxes to store things in and store my paper collections in large plastic bags so I can see what is in there! One question....what do you use to create the glossy finish on the outside of your suitcase? Thank you again Graphic 45 and Magda!

Magda Cortez:

Hi Michelle.. I used mode podge!!!

Thanks so much for the tour of the work studio, I love to see how other people organize their space-I always get ideas for mine. This suitcase is amazing, I want it:)

02/20/2018, 12:27:15 PM

The album with the vellum is nice and makes me want to try one. The round suitcase is different too!

02/20/2018, 12:34:25 PM

Thank you for showing your "real craft room" while working on a project. That's just how mine looks.

02/20/2018, 12:54:22 PM,

Loved visiting Magda's craft space! When I am creating, I just can't get out enough stuff, and often have huge messes to clean up after. It's encouraging to see there are lots of crafters who create that way.

Diane Russell:
02/20/2018, 01:04:44 PM

I have 3 rooms in my house I call craft rooms. I have tried to divide them into different areas of crafting but they always seem to mesh together. My kids say I am not a hoarder because I'm neat about it. I have some pictures on my facebook It's kind of embarrassing but that's who I am. This doesn't show my desk as it's in a forth room.

Sue D:
02/20/2018, 01:10:08 PM

FAbulous projects and I enjoyed the tour of your scrap room. I am impressed with all of the labeling--I need to do more of that.

Sue MacFall:
02/20/2018, 01:10:43 PM

Great video, thank you Magda - love seeing how others use their crafting space. Thank you too for sharing these projects with us.The are really stunning.

Rebecca Rosas:
02/20/2018, 01:19:41 PM

I really appreciate Magda's honesty about her craftroom. I use the floor, too! Did you know that you can gain some additional space temporarily by pulling out drawers and placing items you are still using on/in them? It works! Sweet upcycled suitcase!

Carol Golla:
02/20/2018, 01:39:03 PM

I loved your craft room tour! I try to keep mine organized and always appreciate new tips. Graphic 45 paper groups are the best, most beautiful papers out there.

Barb Carroll:
02/20/2018, 01:43:37 PM

Magda’s expose on her workspace was fantastic! (So glad to know others clean up before they start anew...thought that was my quirk!!). This makes me want to collect all G45 materials and put together a new art room!

Rebecca Rosas:
02/20/2018, 01:45:26 PM

P.S. By "pulling out drawers" I mean opening them.

Sue Kendrick:
02/20/2018, 02:13:02 PM

Thank you, Magda, for everything. I am so glad to see your "real" scrap room because it looks like mine. Your projects are stunning. Thank you!!!

Diane F:
02/20/2018, 02:23:01 PM

WOW! So much to love about this post! My space is very similar to yours and I utilize storage containers & labels like you do. When I am working on a project it is a big mess and I spread out to the floor as well. That mixed media album is gorgeous. I love the way that you used the wooden picture frames on the front. Thanks for all of the inspiration.

Beth Beery:
02/20/2018, 02:36:41 PM

I love seeing the creative spaces of others!! Really like the way you've displayed your boxes/albums on the shelf. This gives me motivation to clean my mess and start creating!!!!

Martie Rollin:
02/20/2018, 02:41:24 PM

This level of organization is something to aspire to...but not today. Today I'm in the middle of a creative mess and I love it! Thanks for offering this wonderful prize package!

Susan Tomlinson:
02/20/2018, 02:57:50 PM

Magda, you're the best! I love your very "real" craft room! And the way you have everything organized I'd is great. Thank you for sharing. Love your creations as well! Much love, Susan

02/20/2018, 03:32:49 PM

Your projects are stunning. What a talent you have! But I mostly want to thank you for sharing your craft room when it is less than picture-perfect. I always feel so terrible because my craft so messy. Now I feel like I am not the only one!I am amazed, too, to see that I am not the only one who ends up working in about 6 inches of space. I start off with a completely open 6 foot table space, and in half an hours' time, I am down to barely enough empty space to sit a card down!

Donna Leutloff:
02/20/2018, 03:38:26 PM

Well thank goodness I'm not the only one with a "real" craft room. I too like using the plastic see-thru's for storage. Had to laugh at Tammy's comment above...that's when you know it's time to "scrap-back"...when you only have six inches to work!

Michelle Nettleton:
02/20/2018, 03:50:01 PM

I need Magda at my house. I have a dedicated room for crafting, but spills into the formal dining table and the spare room. I want to label like Magda does, but I pull out a box to label and I see something I've forgotten and there I go.....crafting frenzy! Oh well, maybe next time!

Jane Bill:
02/20/2018, 04:24:34 PM

Great projects! Love your craft room! Mine is not nearly as organized as yours. My desk might look clean for 5 minutes but then it's controlled chaos for hours on end...or maybe weeks on end! LOL! I usually have about 6 inches to work on with all of the great "stuff" piled around that 6 inches. Oh well, it seems to work for me. Crafting is great! And crafting with Graphic 45 is the Best!!

Kathleen E Capachione:
02/20/2018, 04:26:58 PM

I have moved so many times...And will again. I do have a spare room for me however, I have big totes. Bought plastic shelving for my paper. My problem is I Love everything. G45 started me in scrapbooking. Love to make minis and decorate boxes/frames. Thanks to all the designes.

Holly Hatch:
02/20/2018, 04:44:36 PM

Thank you, G45, for not selling out of Vol. 2 of the craft club. Everything is so beautiful. Love it! And I would love to win the bundle.

02/20/2018, 07:07:58 PM

Right now I don't have a craftroom... it's my couch in front of the TV. I just finished my monthly kit album...I LOVE IT!!! This Is The First Thing I Actually Finished In Years!!! Due To An Injury. But, I'm Back In The Saddle Again!!! YeeHaw, as they say!!! Ready For My Next Project To Complete!!!

02/20/2018, 07:09:29 PM

Thank you for letting us into your craft room. Its so much fun to see the spaces of such creative people. Also the tips are great and well appreciated.

Suzy Hilborn:
02/20/2018, 08:14:38 PM

Thank you Magda for sharing your craft room with us. I always end up scrapping myself into a corner with no way out, so thanks for letting me know that I am not alone. And Diane Russell, I so enjoyed watching Abe. I always wondered what that kind of machine would look like. Fun stuff all the way around!

02/20/2018, 11:04:38 PM

I’m loving the repurposed suitcase! G45 paper collections are so perfect for making old somethings new again.

Love the Tours and videos...g45 always rocks!

Sheila Briere:

Dear Magda,I think all papercrafters are somehow related, everything in its place until it's time to make a colourful mess! I think secretly, we're all organizers too, I can have almost as much fun reorganizing the aftermath of a project as I do creating it :) My Gypsy craftavan has moved 6 times over the years from room to room to room as my children grew up and out of the house, with a few returns!!I've finally settled (ya right!) in the basement where there's space for all things crafty. I do love to spend my evenings with my fussy cutting and distress inks in the living room close to my hubby while he reads or watches TV, so I guess I have taken over the main floor of the house a little too..just the dining table and coffee table, one for cutting, one for stamping.... He's said to me that he likes it when I craft in the living room "and you get your stuff all over, it feels more like home".

02/21/2018, 12:09:01 AM

The album is so awesome! Thanks for the great package for the give awayy, too!

Love the tour of your craft room! I thought I was the only one using my floor too! My craft room looks like the second pictures, messy because I’m always in the middle of some projects. I clean it, it’s like that for 5 minuets, then I start some more projects and it’s a mess in no time! Love the great projects you shared too. Great inspiration for the beautiful papers from Graphic 45! Thanks.

Stella Wiesheu:
02/21/2018, 12:39:20 PM,

Magda, que estudio tan lindo tienes! y si, de verdad que ordenado ... hasta los cinco minutos despues!! jajaja, con tantas cosas lindas que has hecho con G45 dan ganas de salir corriendo a buscar las últimas colecciones!

Anne McIntosh:
02/21/2018, 03:17:03 PM

WOW, once again! I love all Magda's projects, including her craft room. I'm having problems getting my new craft area ready to work. I went from a craft room 12X18 with one entire wall of shelves to a small area 4X12 culled out of my living room. I WILL make it work for me, it will just take time. Now I'm inspired by Magda to get busy and get to work! And as usual such beautiful collections by Graphic45. My favorite since I first laid eyes on it! And I love the chance to win the Ladies Diary collection!

Sandra Featherston:

Wow Magda - that is amazing and yes my craft space looks like version 2!!! My space is also our spare room and computer room so when people come all the boxes and totes move and the bed is put up. We crafters are certainly adaptable. Incredible projects and inspiration.Thank you so much for sharing. Tanis Buckton Kamloops, BC Canada
