Junk Journal Little Women Tutorial

By Marina Blaukitchen

“When I saw Little Women collection for first time I knew I had to make a nice junk journal, I think they are the perfect papers for this kind of project.

I have to say that I really enjoyed doing it, so much so that it was hard for me to get away from my work table and when I did I was willing to go back to it to continue with this beauty.

This is how I did it. I dyed some papers and some doilies with coffee and found some pages of an old novel.

Cutted four 12”x12” decorated papers from Little Women Collection to the same size as my stained sheets. I folded all the pages in half and created two booklets with the same number of sheets. Distress all the pages with some ink using a blending tool.

I made the spine with a piece of kraft cardboard. I marked two lines with 3 holes each for the binding. I made the same holes in the two booklets and sewed them on the spine with a resistant thread.

I made the covers of the junk journal with some pieces of a box of cookies. I joined them with self-adhesive kraft tape, leaving a few millimeters between the lids and the spine.

I lined the covers with a binding cloth taking care that the corners were well formed. Then I stuck the back of the booklets on the back of the covers and covered the remaining interior with decorated paper.

I decorated all the pages with papers and other embellishments.

These are some of them.

I use a metal and leather clasp to close the journal.

Finally I decorated the cover with a painted frame, paper, chipboards, some ribbon and flowers.

Graphic 45 Supplies:

Happy Papercrafting!
