Floral Card

By Elena Olinevich

"I love creating floral cards but sometimes I struggle with adding more and more flower, since it is not a savvy way.

So today I want to share some tips how you can stretch the feeling that your project has more flowers as it is in real life.

Well, I made this card using beautiful Little Women Collection, it has a few floral patterns, but since I’ve used 8x8 Paper pad, some of the flowers were not easy to cut out due to the small size.

So here is my list what to do with the flowers:

  1. the most easiest way is to cut out the flowers from the papers. You don’t need to make endless fussy cutting but you can focus on those flowers that have the color that is most needed for your project and you don’t have the needed embellishments in your stash

in my case I used mostly the tiny blue cut out flowers

However, you can fussy cut and more and add them as small accents over the main flower clusters.

2. the next tip is to combined large flowers. Sometimes it is quite challenging to use the large flowers, as you need to add a few small ones to reach the balance on your project.

What I have discovered from my experience is that you can make the small parts from a large flower, for instance, to use only one or few petals of it. It will create an illusion of the dimension as well as it gives the feeling the you have enough small flowers or leaves to play with on your card.

3. add chipboard frames or images of flowers, they have an alternative texture and will allow you to escape using too many of floral embellishments.

For my sentiment, I used the tag “Celebrate”  from the ATC Banners Set. I think it works great there

I hope that some of my tips were useful for you and you can incorporate them in your projects.

You can also check my simple tutorial on how I arranged the flowers on my card here.

Beautiful and stunning by the additional tiny fussy cut flowers. Thank you for sharing your creativity with all of us. G45 papers are so appealing to the eye it is hard to cut them, however, when I see the finished project, whether it is a card, album or other the papers are all the more stunning. Love all things Graphic 45!!
