Communique Coaster Mini Album in a Box
By Einat Kessler
“One of my all time favorite G45 collections is Communique. I just love the images, the vintage feel, and the colors. So you know I just had to create a mini album with it right?
I decided to use coasters as the base for the pages for two reasons: first, it fit inside the box and second I wanted to challenge myself to go small. I also used small black tags for some of the interactive mechanisms.
The binding of the mini album was simple. I used squares of cardstock to sandwich two coasters together. Then I covered the rest of the coaster and added all the interactive fun.
Tips:
#1: When you create an interactive mechanism, for example a flap, always think about how you can combine it with another mechanism, for example by adding a pocket on the front of the flap. Then expand it even further by creating an interactive insert. This is how all complicated interactive mechanisms are built!
#2: When embellishing the top of a box add a 3D effect with foam tape or little triangles to glue the embellishments on. Cut a strip of cardstock, fold it into a triangle and close with glue. Attach the bottom of the triangle to the lid and the embellishment to the side of the triangle.
Here’s a flip through the mini album
Thanks for stopping by.” ~ Einat

Lovely idea and beautiful the way it all came together. I also really like the masculin cards ♥️!
What a fabulous and fun mini album. And what a conversation piece, too. Also love Katelyn's wonderful manly cards. For one, I am really happy to see French Country back. It's my all-time favorite.

Perfect! I actually bought some coasters a while ago, not knowing what I would use them for, but knowing the inspiration would come some day - well, today is the day! Thanks so much!

What a wonderful idea for using coasters. And such a cute box - claw feet and all. Could use any of the G45 collections for this project. Have to try a couple. But this masculine look is great. Don't see that often enough.

Simply beautiful projects. I love all the papers and the artwork really is front and center.
How clever to recycle old coasters like this - love the album and thank you for reminding us about the cards too. Communique is a really versatile colllection.
This will be my weekend project. Amazingly creative.
I love this style and collection. However, I'm new to paper crafting. I've done cards for a long time but I don't know what "coasters" are. Can anyone help me with this? Are they the cut aparts or ephemera cards??
I am always amazed to see eve designers project, as they are always amazing!
Love this idea. I am new to this type of crafting and wondered if there was a tutorial video on how to bind the mini album. I am not sure what you meant by using squares of cardstock to sandwich two coasters together. I would love to learn this technique. Thanks for any help you could give me on this project.
