Paper Doll Play Booklet

By Sandy Trefger

“As a little girl, I loved playing with my paper dolls and adored each set.  I would spend hours and hours cutting out the clothes that would complete their wardrobe. Since they were, of course, made of paper, I no longer have any of my paper dolls. I was so excited to see the Penny’s Paper Doll Family Collection!  I set out right away to create a Paper Doll Play Booklet--a place to store all the cut out clothes, the dolls and a place to play.  I had so much fun cutting out Penny’s family and creating the perfect home for them. I hope it will make some little girl very happy.” ~Sandy

  1. When fussy cutting out elements that will be handled a lot such as the paper doll family, glue each one down onto cardstock and then fussy cut out.  This will make them a bit thicker and more sturdy.  Then use a light tan alcohol marker to color the edges of the cut out and the chipboard.

  2. Use transparency sheets to create see-through pockets for storage of smaller elements such as the paper doll clothes and hats.

Fun Facts:

  • When little girls that loved cutting out paper dolls grow up, they become designers for Graphic 45 that love to fussy cut.

  • Soft pinks and blues are my favorite crafting colors for paper, flowers, and ribbon.  However, I now love so many of the different vintage toned colors of the Graphic 45 paper collections.

  • My favorite glue for attaching flowers and elements to a project is the Beacon 3-in-1 glue.  It can be hard to squeeze out of the bottle but the thickness of the clear glue gives me time to rearrange if needed and it really held once dried.  My second choice would be a hot glue gun.

What a beautiful collection for every "girl's" dream of paper dolls! Great suggestion to first affix to cardstock before cutting out. Great for adding strength to these beautiful cutouts!

We didn't have a lot growing up but my sisters made sure on special days their little sister had paper dolls even if the made dresses for old dolls! I remember my Elizabeth Taylor I got for Christmas one year with all her beautiful clothes. Thought I was really special! I'm loving the new Graphic 45 so I can go back to my childhood "legally"!!! Beautiful as usual

This is an absolutely adorable paper line. As grown-ups, I don't think we ever outgrow our fascination with paperdolls, i.e., all the pretty clothes and accessories. I know a little girl (or big girl) will love playing with G45's Penny paperdolls family.

I use to spend hours playing with my paper dolls and when my mother saw this paper last week she told me she remembered playing with them as a child. She also told me the she started sewing when she was little (8-9yr) because her paper dolls clothes inspired her. I grew up to design my own clothes while she sewed them for me, I cannot sew to save my life. When I saw the Paper Dolls graphic45 paper I squeezed I total excitement since I know the perfect little girl who would absolutely adore playing with her own set!! I plan on creating her something special for Christmas with these pa person if I can find the money to purchase the collection! I am hopeful and super excited!!
