Step-by-Step Process:
Step 1: Prepare the Base
Start by cutting a piece of Kraft paper to 19×8.25”. This will be the main body of your calendar.
For the base, you’ll need two pieces of white chipboard (7×7”) and one piece of white chipboard (7×3.5”). These will provide structure to your calendar.
Step 2: Score and Fold the Chipboard
Use a scoring tool to create scores around the edges of the chipboard pieces. This will help with folding and give you clean lines.
Trim off any excess paper along the edges to make folding easier.
Now, fold the edges of the chipboard, securing them with glue or tacky tape.
Step 3: Attach the Kraft Paper
Apply glue or tacky tape to the back of the Kraft paper and adhere it to the chipboard base. Make sure it’s smooth and neatly attached to the edges.
Step 4: Punch Holes for the Rings
Using a hole punch, punch two holes on each side of the calendar base. These holes will hold the rings that bind the monthly calendar pages.
Step 5: Add Patterned Paper
Cut a piece of patterned paper from the “Season to Celebrate” collection to 6.75×6.75”.
Attach this piece of paper to the front of the Kraft base using glue or tacky tape. This will add a nice pop of color and pattern to your calendar.
Step 6: Layer the Ephemera
Now for the fun part! Layer the beautiful floral ephemera pieces from the “Season to Celebrate” collection. Arrange them creatively on the front of your calendar for a floral, seasonal touch.
These ephemera pieces will make your calendar feel extra special, giving it that handcrafted, personalized charm.
Step 7: Bind the Calendar with Rings
Insert the rings through the punched holes on each side of your calendar base. This will allow the calendar pages (ephemera) to turn smoothly as the months go by.
Step 8: Final Touches
You’re done! Your calendar is now ready to be displayed on your desk, mantel, or wherever you like!
Pro Tip: Since the dates and the year aren’t printed on the calendar, this project can be used for any year! It’s a versatile and thoughtful gift idea that works for any occasion.
