Celebrate Layout with Video: Introducing Romantic Mixed Media Artist, Marilyn Rivera

Hello, G45ers!

Pull out your paints and let's get ready to have some mixed media fun.  In this post, we have a shabby chic scrapbook layout with video and an introduction to the creator of this masterpiece, new Brand Ambassador from the USA, Marilyn Rivera.  As a fashion designer, you can see how she takes her knowledge of style and romance to the page in the most elegant ways.  Marilyn used our Botanical Tea – Deluxe Collector’s Edition to create her #G45Selfie layout, along with her fussy cutting scissors to bring some paper butterflies to life.  But before we dive in we have a contest reminder.

Brand Ambassador 2018-2019

Marilyn Rivera – USA

“Hello Graphic 45 fans! My name is Marilyn Rivera. I’m from Puerto Rico but live in North Carolina, with my husband, son, daughter and, of course, my cat.  I’m a Fashion Designer by profession but I got sick and my life changed. I was looking for a hobby, a therapy of sorts when I discovered scrapbooking and fell in love with it. I love to incorporate my Fashion Design techniques in my pages, combining them with Mixed Media elements. My style is romantic, shabby chic with mixed media. I’m passionate about painting, mediums, colors.

I also have the honor of traveling to other countries, showcasing my techniques through different creatives workshops. However, my primary means for teaching others how to use different products and trying out new tools in their every-day scrapbooking is through my YouTube channel. And now a dream comes true, I have the honor to be a Graphic 45 Ambassador and I’m excited to share with all of you this new adventure. I hope to bring you a bit of inspiration through my projects during this year.  Hugs!

Fun Facts:

1- I love to make art journal but never share my projects.

2- If I need a muse, I take a cup of coffee, it helps me.

3-I love angels and collect them, you will find one in every corner in my home.

4- You always find a rose Yankee candle in my home, love the rose aroma.

5- I’m an animal lover.

6-I also love drawing, coloring, cooking, and sewing.

Celebrate Layout

I’m so excited to share with you my first project as Graphic 45 Ambassador. I created a layout using one of my favorites collection Botanical Tea. I started giving textures to the polka dot paper with a stencil and modeling paste. I dab the Antiquing Dye Ink over the acrylic mat and I mixed it with water to paint all the stencil work. I let it dry.

I took one tag from the Regular Ivory Tag Albums to mat the photo. I distressed with the ClearSnap Decades Dye Pad all the edges of the tag and the photo.

I cut out the flowers, butterflies, birds and, leaves from the papers.

Once I created the design on my page with the different chipboard, stickers and die cuts pieces, I added  3D foam tape on the back of them. It added dimension and highlight these elements.

I added some art stones with gel medium to create more textures and for a feminine touch, I added some pearls here and there. You can watch all the creative process in the video tutorial.
