Craft Studio Tour & Tips

By Glenys Vidal

“Welcome to my Craft Room

Hello, again G45ers! Today I am back to share with you a little tour of my craft room space, or as I like to call it, my happy place. I have been a crafter for as long as I can remember and over the years, I have used so many different craft storage solutions that ranged from boxes in the dining room, to rolling carts, to a small hutch, and much more.

At the time those solutions were perfect and did their job, but many of you will understand that as your collection grows, you have to come up with better ideas to store it. About two years ago, I moved from the garage of my house to a small spare bedroom. With the help of my family, I finally have the room that I have always dreamed of!

I am hoping this post gives you inspiration or some ideas on how to store your crafty goodies. Now let’s start the tour.

My craft room is about 9×13 feet in size, and most of my furniture is from Ikea and Target.  At the end of the blog post, you can find links for products that are still available for purchase.

For my craft room, I chose white furniture because I love the clean look it gives, but I also love gold, pink, and florals so I tried using those colors in different areas to bring a feminine touch.

On my first wall, I have three bookshelves from Target where I store most of my supplies and display my completed projects. I added extra shelves to the bookshelves to add extra storage. Here you can see how I store all of my stamps, dies and stencils and smaller paper pads in Ikea boxes. For my Graphic 45 ink storage as well as other brands, I altered a Recollection by Michaels storage cube by adding extra shelves made by inexpensive foam core.

G45 Tip: Store your ephemera packs next to the corresponding paper pads for easy accessibility.

I chose to place my desk in the center of the room to have easy accessibility to all areas and to

enjoy the view from my window.

Behind my desk, I have an Ikea Expedit bookshelf where I store most of my larger albums and some decorational pieces. On top, I have an inspirational wall filled with different items that I sometimes change depending on the seasons or holidays.

Next to that, I have a storage paper tower. This has been my best find ever in Goodwill! I bought it for $5.99 and that's where I store all of my collection of Graphic 45 12×12 paper pads and deluxe collector's edition packs. (I call this tower my paper hoarding area.)

In my room, I am very lucky to have a small closet that I use for extra storage. I customized it by adding two other expedit units, shelves and a peg board where I store most of my embellishments and extra supplies that are stored in labeled photo boxes (I lovingly call this area my little store.)

On my craft room I don’t have a lot of drawer storage, I rely on the use of boxes and baskets to keep my supplies organized and store ongoing projects. Most of my boxes are labeled to ensure every item has a home.

G45 tip: Graphic 45 embellishments are not only wonderful for your crafting projects, they are also great decorative pieces for your craft room.

Here are some extra photos of different storage solutions I have found work great for me:

Craft spinner for storing my most used tools

Ikea boxes to hold smaller paper pads

Vintage glass tray for mixed media supplies.

Spinning carousel for smaller items.

My ink storage

I love spending time in my craft room, after long hours at work, I sit there, craft, relax and

Find a little bit of happiness.

Thank you so much for reading this post and I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I am also sharing a little live video tour below. I hope to see you soon.” ~Glenys
