DIY Paper Ribbon Tutorial

  It is a great day to learn a new #G45Technique.  Today Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador, Elizajane shows us how to create our own paper ribbons from scrap papers.  Grab your scraps and turn on your sewing machine and join us in creating your own paper embellishments.

 

Pleated Paper Ribbons

“This is a great way to use your leftover paper scraps. As well as, being so fun and easy to make! 

 

All you need is 1” and ½” paper strips and a sewing machine. In the above samples I used 1” Graphic 45 patterned paper strips combined with ½” strips of vintage dictionary paper or tracing paper. 

 

 

Also, try using different distress ink colours either before you sew the two strips together or afterwards. And try changing the thread colours too. 

 

The combinations of patterned papers and vintage papers, ribbon, lace, thread, distress inks or anything else you can think of are endless. Just experiment and have fun.

 

I usually stick with a certain colour palette for each individual roll. Then when I am looking for a certain colour embellishment, I know which roll to look through.

 

The uses for the completed pleated paper ribbon are also endless. Try using them when making tags, cards, scrapbook pages or junk journals.
