Brand Ambassador 2018-2019

Tanya Cloete – South Africa

“Hello crafty friends, my name is Tanya Cloete (aka Tanya Scrap). I live in Pretoria, South Africa. Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa and is also known as 'Jacaranda City' for its thousands of Jacaranda trees. Cannot picture this city without those pretty little purple flowers! I am what you would call an avid scrapper. I spent most of my time crafting away in my little piece of heaven, my happy place. This all started about 7 years ago seeking a hobby to keep me busy. I have always loved making crafty things as far as I can remember but never imagined that scrapbooking/paper crafting would develop into such a passion. I still love every single moment of my crafty journey! I enjoy creating Single Page Layouts, Mini Albums, Mixed Media pieces, Altered Art, and Cards but my love lies in creating Off the Page projects!

A special thanks to the wonderful Graphic 45 Family for this AWESOME opportunity to be on this FABULOUS team and to be the first South African to represent their AMAZING brand – a HUGE honor!!!!

I am so excited to share my first Design Team project as a Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador. I was asked to create a project that reflects me as an artist using my favorite paper medium and go-to technique!

I decided to make an off the page project, (for those who know me…know this is what I LOVE to do!) I have decided to combine one of my favorites Portrait of a Lady Collection with Botanical Tea DCE. I looooove pink and the colours in Botanical Tea were a perfect match to the gorgeous green and gold in Portrait of a Lady. My favorite paper medium is black cardstock and go-to technique would be chipboard pieces embossed and die cuts for layering!

Herewith the Supplies and Instructions you may use to recreate such a project:

Staples - Mixed Media 5x5 Box-Black

Graphic 45 Supplies:

Other Supplies:

  • Poppy Stamp Die Powell Butterfly
  • Memory Box Die La Rue Heart
  • Tim Holtz Decorative Strip Die Film Strip Frames
  • Tim Holtz Bigz Die Picture Wheel
  • Film Strip Die
  • Butterfly Die
  • Border Die
  • Sticky Red Double Sided Tape
  • Adhesive Foam Squares
  • Ranger Embossing Powder Princess Gold
  • Lindy's Embossing Powder Chateau Rose
  • Chipboard
  • Dusty Attic Chippie Title
  • Room 5 Graph-X Chipboard Frame
  • Metal Feet, Pins, String, Film Strip Ribbon, Ribbon, Rhinestones and Paper Straw

Mat the G45 Mixed Media Box with sheets from Portrait of a Lady and Botanical Tea. Both inside and Out. Add pink ribbon around the sides of box and on the top, make a bow.

Tip: Adhere these with sticky red tape. I prefer the red tape for projects like this…as it is strong and

won't fall apart or come loose! Adhere the metal feet to all four corners and the G45 door knocker to

the center and add pink rhinestones to the open holes of each piece.

Cut die cut shapes using dies…

*Butterflies (adhere rhinestones to the center of each) and leaves -black cardstock and collection sheets.

*Hearts – collection sheets.

*Film Strips x4 & Long Film Strip (Tim Holtz Die) and Clock – black cardstock.

*Picture Wheel x4 pieces from chipboard and x8 from the collection sheets (adhere on both sides) add the clock filigree frame to one piece and the clock on the other one.

Film Reel section x2: cut a strip of black cardstock measuring 28 cm x 7cm.Cut another strip form the collection sheets and adhere to the black strip leaving a small border. Adhere the two ends together to form a 'pipe'. Add a paper straw through the hole of the one film reel. This will be placed into the other one at an angle. Cut 12 portraits from the Portrait of a Lady Collection using the film strip die.

Tip: Adhere a piece of masking tape to each portrait picture when cutting to ensure that is stays in place.

Adhere all the portrait pieces to the open frames of the black film strip die cut with washi/decorative tape. Adhere two of the film strip ends together. Place over the 'pipe' piece and adhere the picture wheels to the top and bottom. Add G45 brads to the holes.

Make 2 cluster embellishments using the die cut hearts, butterflies, leaves shapes, string, and flowers.

Glue pieces together.

Emboss the chippie title with gold and the frame with Chateau Rose. Adhere the lady portrait and heart die cut shape behind the frame. Place chippie title on top of the frame.

Cut 3 border die cut shapes using a border die from the black cardstock photo mats in the box. Cut 6 tags from the collection sheets using the ATC tag and adhere the borders to the 3 tags. Mat these onto the black Artist Trading Tags. Cut 6 portraits from the collection sheets and adhere onto each tag with foam squares.

Place tags in the binding ring. Add ribbon through the first tag and make a bow.

Adhere a strip of paper from the collection sheets behind the long film strip die cut and add film strip ribbon on top. Give it a twist and adhere inside the box. Add some net on the inside and in between the film strip die cut. All Done!
