FRUIT CART POP-UP CARD

By Crafter Sabaa

“Hello, crafty friends!

Today I’m so excited to share one of my favorite interactive projects featuring the beautiful Graphic 45  ‘s Slice of Life Collection. If you love creating cards that surprise and delight, this Cart Pop-Up Card is the perfect project to try.

The Slice of Life Collection instantly reminds me of sunny mornings at a local farmers’ market—fresh fruits, cheerful colors, blooming flowers, and joyful celebrations. I wanted to capture that feeling by creating a miniature fruit cart that springs to life as soon as the recipient opens the card.

At first glance, it looks like a beautifully embellished greeting card. But the real magic happens when the card opens—the charming fruit cart pops up into a dimensional market stall filled with colorful fruits, florals, and delightful details. It’s the kind of handmade card that becomes a keepsake long after the celebration is over.

This finished card size is 5 ½” by 6 ½” .The soft pink flowers paired with glittered leaves add a lovely touch of dimension, while the pastel blue background helps the vibrant fruit images stand out beautifully. For flowers I have used Botanical Tea Keepsake Kit with Exclusive Metal Die-Set . I finished it with the “Celebrate” sentiment, making the card suitable for birthdays, congratulations, or any happy occasion.

Open the card, and a little fruit cart pops right into view!

This is my favourite part of the project because it instantly brings the whole card to life. The market cart is decorated with fresh fruits, flowers, and a striped canopy that gives it the look of a charming little roadside fruit stand. For the cart body, I took a cardstock of 3.5” by 4 “and added two legs using cardstock and acetate strip. You can take any size of cardstock, just ensure that it is smaller than the card base.

I had so much fun fussy cutting the fruit elements from the collection and arranging them around the cart. I have given the wood texture to the cardstock to match the vibes. Mixing different fruits and layering them with a few floral accents makes the scene feel lively without being too crowded.

Even though the inside has lots of details, the card still folds flat nicely, making it practical to gift or mail.

I know interactive cards can sometimes look a little intimidating, so I also recorded a quick making reel to show how I put this card together.

In the reel, you’ll see:
  • How I created the pop-up mechanism
  • How the fruit cart is attached
  • A few decorating tips while assembling the card
  • The finished card opening and closing in action

If you’re planning to recreate this project, I think watching the reel alongside this blog post will make the process much easier.

This project reminded me why I love interactive cards so much. They’re not just fun to make—they’re even more fun to give. Watching a flat card transform into a little fruit cart scene never gets old, and it’s a wonderful way to make any celebration feel a little more special.

I hope this project inspires you to give pop-up cards a try. Once you’ve made one, you’ll see that they’re much simpler than they look, and the possibilities are endless.

If you recreate this card, I’d love to see your version! And don’t forget to tag us and check out quick tutorial reel, where I share the construction process and show the pop-up mechanism in action. I hope it helps you create your own fruity little masterpiece.

Happy crafting, and I’ll see you in my next project!

G45 Tips: Make Your Pop-Up Cards Pop!

  • Start with the mechanism. Build and test your pop-up mechanism before adding embellishments. Open and close the card a few times to make sure everything moves smoothly.
  • Fussy cut your favorites. Slice of Life is packed with fruits, florals, and playful imagery perfect for layering. Cut a variety of sizes to create depth and make your fruit stand feel abundant.
  • Turn cardstock into something unexpected. Sabaa added a wood texture to simple cardstock to create the look of a market cart. Look at the supplies on your craft table and ask, “What else could this become?”
  • Layer without the bulk. Arrange larger elements first, then tuck smaller fruits and flowers around them. You’ll get that wonderfully dimensional look while helping your card fold flat for gifting or mailing.
  • Don’t be intimidated by interactive cards. Start with one simple pop-up element and build from there. Watching the mechanism come to life is half the fun!
