Tags are one of the most versatile surfaces in papercrafting. Add them to mini albums, tie them onto gifts, display them as décor, or use them as a creative playground for new techniques. In this project, Tanya demonstrates the magic of fussy cutting, collage layering, and dimension building, all brought together with a carefully selected three-color palette that truly makes the design pop.

Tips for Creating Layered, Dimensional Tags
1. Start With a Clean Color Palette
Choosing just two or three main colors keeps your design cohesive and visually striking. Tanya used dramatic black, warm gold, and crisp white—perfect for highlighting the whimsical illustrations.
2. Fussy Cut for Movement and Flow
Cutting out butterflies, botanicals, and character elements allows you to build natural movement across your tag. Let pieces overlap, tilt, and peek out from behind each other to create organic flow.
3. Layer in Visual Triangles
Arrange clusters of elements in a triangular layout. This guides the viewer’s eye and adds balance to heavily detailed tags.
4. Mix Flat and Dimensional Adhesives
Use a combination of liquid glue and foam dots. This variation in height adds instant depth and shadow—two essentials for dynamic collage art.
5. Add Texture With Embellishments
Pearl gems, metallic accents, and delicate cutouts can elevate your tag from lovely to truly luxe. Keep embellishments intentional so they enhance—not clutter—the design.
Thanks for stopping by, G45ers! We hope Tanya’s magical Butterflies & Botanicals Collage Tag inspires you to dive into your own layered creations. Be sure to check out the Curiouser & Curiouser and Season to Celebrate collections now in our Clearance section—these treasures won’t last long!
