Introducing Evanjelene
2025-2026 Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador
“Hello, I’m Eva from India! I’m a mixed-media and scrapbooking artist with a deep love for all things crafty. I started crafting 8 years ago and ever since, it’s been a big part of who I am. Whether I’m building large 3D albums or playing with layers, textures and little details, I always try to bring my imagination to life through every project I make.
I especially enjoy working on colourful and vintage projects, which is why Graphic 45 holds such a special place in my heart.
When I’m not crafting, you’ll probably find me styling my projects into flatlays, filming tutorials, or hosting workshops where I share everything I’ve learned with other crafters. And when my hands aren’t full of glue and paper, I’m usually writing letters to my penpals, listening to music, or dreaming about where creativity will take me next.
Thank you, Graphic 45, for the opportunity to design for you once again. It means the world to me to be part of something so inspiring.

Flying Fairies Wind Up Box
Tutorial by Evanjelene
Hello friends
I am so excited to share my very first inspiration project for my new term with Graphic45! I feel so grateful to continue with them for another year and I wanted to start this journey with something really special. If you know me, you know how much I love 3D projects and anything that pops or moves. For this project, I drew inspiration from my childhood. I used to own a little wind-up ballerina box and it always felt so magical to open it. That memory inspired me to create a similar piece, but this time using only papers from the beautiful Fairy Boutique collection.
This is a card in a box style project with a moving element inside, where two fairies glide up and down as if they’re flying in their magical garden. Let’s get started!

Supplies I Used
- Graphic45 Fairy Boutique collection papers
- Fairy Boutique ephemera and chipboard tags
- Kraft cardstock (for the main structure)
- Thin metal wire (easy to bend)
- Green floral tape or washi tape (optional, to cover the wire)
- Two chipboard strips (7 inches long each)
- Scoring board and bone folder
- Craft knife, scissors, and ruler
- Hole making tool (piercing tool or sharp needle)
- Strong glue or double-sided tape
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Creating the Box Base
- Take a sheet of Kraft cardstock.
- Use the box template (attached below) to measure and cut your base. The red lines are the cut lines and the green lines are the score lines.

- After scoring, fold each crease neatly using a bone folder so the edges are crisp.
- Cut along the red lines to form the flaps. For a softer look, you can round the flap edges with scissors.
Step 2: Decorating the Panels
- Before assembling the box, cover the inside and outside panels with patterned papers from the Fairy Boutique collection.
- I used green solid and leafy patterns for the base, which gave a garden-like feel.
- Adhere the papers firmly with glue or tape, making sure the edges are aligned.
Do not glue the side tab yet—we’ll need to work on the mechanism first.
Step 3: Preparing the Winding Wire Mechanism
- Take a thin metal wire (something flexible but strong enough to hold small paper elements).
- Shape it into a gentle wave pattern with alternating highs and lows. Each bend should not be more than 1 inch tall. This ensures it fits nicely inside the box.
- (Optional) Wrap the wire with green floral tape so it blends into the fairy garden theme.
Step 4: Adding Holes for the Mechanism
- On two opposite sides of the box, mark the center points.
- Use a piercing tool or sharp needle to create small holes in these spots.
- Slide the wire through one hole, across the box, and out through the other hole.
- Rotate it gently to make sure it moves freely without resistance.
Now glue the side tab and assemble the box into its final 3D shape.
Step 5: Making the Fairy Sliders
- Cut two strips of chipboard, each about 7 inches long and 1/4 inch wide.
- At the bottom of each strip, fold a small loop. This loop will hook onto the highs and lows of the wire.
- Remove the wire temporarily and slide the two chipboard strips onto it. One strip should sit on a high bend and the other on a low bend of the wave.
- Insert the wire back through the holes in the box. Now when you turn the wire, the chipboard strips will glide up and down!
Step 6: Optional Top Cover
- If you’d like to hide the wire mechanism, cut a piece of pattern paper measuring 6 x 4 inches.
- Score it at the 1 inch and 5 inch marks lengthwise.
- Fold along the score lines to create a flat lid.
- Cut a small slit or window along the center line so the chipboard strips can pass through.
- Attach this lid to the top of the box. You can double it for extra strength.
Step 7: Adding the Fairies
- Select two fairies from the Fairy Boutique ephemera or chipboard pieces.
- Glue each fairy securely to the top of one chipboard strip.
- Test the movement again by turning the wire—you should now see the fairies flying up and down in a magical dance!
Step 8: Creating the Fairy Garden
Now comes the fun part—embellishing!
- Decorate the inside flaps and around the base of the box with flowers, vines, and leaves from the Fairy Boutique collection.
- Add chipboard tags, butterflies, and tiny creatures to make the scene come alive.
- Sprinkle glitter glue for a shimmering fairy dust effect.
- Add buttons, sequins, and small details to give more depth and whimsy.
This project makes a perfect keepsake for anyone who loves fairies. You can place it on a shelf as a little decorative piece or gift it to a child, friend, or family member as a unique handmade surprise. It can also hold a small note or candy inside the box for an extra special touch.
This Flying Fairies Pop Up Box was such a joy to make, and it really brought back those magical childhood memories for me. I hope this detailed tutorial helps you try one of your own and sprinkle a little fairy dust into your crafting. If you create something inspired by this, please share and tag me—I’d love to see your fairy worlds come alive too!
Until next time, keep creating magic with paper!”
Love,
Eva

Pro Tips for Crafting a Perfect Pop-Up Box Card
1. Score before you stick
Always score and fold your box base before adding patterned paper. This keeps your creases crisp and prevents tearing when you assemble.
2. Hide the mechanics
Wrap your wire mechanism with floral tape, washi, or even a strip of patterned paper. Not only does it blend into your design, but it also gives a polished, professional finish.
3. Test the motion often
Turn the wire a few times before gluing everything down. A little test run ensures your fairies glide smoothly without hiccups.
4. Layer for depth
Use a mix of chipboard, ephemera, and fussy-cut elements from the Fairy Boutique collection to build a lush, dimensional fairy garden inside your box.
5. Add a sparkle finish
A touch of glitter glue, sequins, or iridescent gems makes your fairies look like they’re leaving trails of magical dust as they fly.
6. Think beyond the card
This box card doubles as a keepsake! Slip a note, small candy, or charm inside for an extra surprise when gifting.
Now that you know how to make a Pop-Up Box Card with Flying Fairies, it’s your turn to give this project a try! Grab your Fairy Boutique papers, follow Eva’s step-by-step directions, and bring your own fairy world to life.
