#G45Technique – How to Use a Corset Binding for Your Tag Albums

By Kristine Woods

“Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine here to share a fun technique with you. Today, I will show you how to use a corset binding for your albums. I will be using the Graphic 45 regular tags as my album base and the Voyage Beneath the Sea  collection to decorate them. Below, I show you the steps to create the 6 tags. In the video, I will first show you how to create coral using fun fur and Mod Podge, and then I will teach you how to bind the tag album.

Supply List:

-Creating the Tags-

Ink 6 regular tag bases. Cut 6 tags from Aquatic Passage (12×12 collection) and glue to the front and back of 3 tags. Cut 6 tags from Ocean Quest (12×12 collection) and glue to the front and back of 3 tags.

Use a ruler to mark along the left side of the tags in the center, then at 1″ and 2″ from the center on each side. Punch holes and add eyelets to the holes.

Use G45 metal dies to cut 2 clock faces and ornate frames (keep thin circle off-cut) from metallic gold paper. Use G45 metal die to cut gears out of metallic gold paper and plain cardstock (I used a scrap of Kraft). Glue the metallic die cut on top the plain die cut.

Tag 1

  1. Place the gold ornate circle frame die cut in the upper left corner of the tag.

  2. Add a piece of chipboard or foam tape to the back of the mermaid cut apart from Wild Wild Waves (8×8 papers).

  3. Tuck three gold gear die cuts under the cut apart card, and glue one gear to the top right corner.

  4. Glue two pieces of coral fun fur  to the sides of the cut apart.

  5. Add chipboard to the back of the “I love you more…” strip from Deep Blue Dreams (8×8 papers), and glue to the bottom of the tag.

  6. Back the “Voyage” sticker on chipboard and glue to the top left.

  7. Glue three matte pearl gems and one key to the tag.

  8. Tie ribbon through the top of the tag.

  9. Flip over. Place a 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” white mat on a 3 ⅜” x 3 ¾” piece of Aquatic Passage and glue to the center of the tag. Add a piece of ribbon to the top (only glue the sides) and a chipboard piece.

Tag 2

  1. Cut a 3″ x 4″ piece of Steampunk Splash (8×8 papers) and then cut diagonally into two pieces. Place in the top right and bottom left corners of the tag.

  2. Add a piece of chipboard or foam tape to the back of the cut apart from Wild Wild Waves (8×8 papers).

  3. Cut a piece from the gold ornate circle frame die cut and place under the cut apart on the right hand side.

  4. Glue pieces of coral fun fur to the sides of the cut apart.

  5. Glue the chipboard piece to the bottom right corner.

  6. Back the starfish sticker on chipboard and glue to the bottom left.

Tag 3

  1. Glue the gold clock face die cut to the top right corner, and add a large gold gear die cut to the center.

  2. Cut a 2″ x 4 ½” piece of Steampunk Splash b-side (8×8 papers) and glue to the top left part of the tag.
