Hello, G45ers!
Are you dreaming of the beach? Think of the warm sunhine, sand on your toes, and the sound of your family laughing while splashing in the waves. We have just the blog to cure your winter blues today, starring a gorgeous Sun Kissed Folio Card by the master of folio albums, Kathy Clement. In this post Kathy shares great papercrafting tips, plus great inside photos of her card which is filled with pockets, waterfalls, and lots of photo mats. So pull out your beach photos and let's start crafting.
Life’s a Beach Folio Card
By Kathy Clement
“Our family has taken a beach vacation every year for more than 2 decades. When the kids were little, we looked forward to those few precious days at the beach all year long. Now that they are all grown, we still make time for the beach each year. Like most family gatherings, we end up taking a lot of photos, especially now that we have the cute antics of the grandgirls to capture! This clever 5” x 7” card folio is the perfect spot for tucking away all the great memories of sunny days, warm sand and gentle waves at the shore.
Although I love to make big chunky mini albums, lately I find myself somewhat addicted to making these card folios. In addition to being much more affordable to a larger album, card folios have a lot of great advantages. They only take a few hours to make, hold just the right number of photos, look great on display, make wonderful gifts, and best of all…they take up very little room for storage.
Tip: Make your own embellishments by combining dies in your stash with designer papers. Everything will color match your creation perfectly, and you’ll save money, too!
One of the thing I love the most about making these little card folios is the opportunity add all kinds of fun, interactive elements to the inside. Here, I ‘ve added a flap page, then folded it to create a pocket for little tags and an ephemera card from the collection. You can add photos or journaling here, and tuck extra photos in the pocket.
Tip: Tell your story. The large journaling card on the top half is the perfect place to add the who, what, where and when to your folio.
Turn the flap, and you’ll find a waterfall feature and another large pocket. This is a great place for all those family photos.
For even more fun, I created a little photo wallet in the large pocket. The front cover illustration is the B Side of an ephemera card.
You can do more journaling here, and tuck in even more photos or mementos from your trip in the pocket.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create your own card folios using your gorgeous Graphic 45 papers and supplies. I warn you…they are addictive!" ~Kathy

“You will capture all your seaside adventures with this smart little folio. It has agate-fold front and opens to reveal flip-up and fold-out pages and even a waterfall page. There are fun little pockets with tags galore to hold photos and journaling. There's even a little box where you can tuck in mementos, or, if you're using this as a gift, you can tuck in a gift card and some chocolates. Yum!" ~Maggi
