wings to the mind,

flight to the imagination…

and life to everything."

Love Notes Tri-Fold Folio

By Kathy Clement

“Music has played a big role in my life.  I taught myself to read music when my parents gave me a tiny electronic organ for Christmas one year.  I went on to learn how to play clarinet, and then was in the orchestra and marching band in high school.  So you could say that Love Notes is the music of my life.  I had such fun creating this tri-fold folio for the Graphic 45 Creativation booth this year.

The Antique Brass Door Knocker seemed to me to be the perfect accent for this elegant paper collection.  I paired it up with some Shabby Chic Ornate Metal Brads and some gorgeous flowers on the folio cover.

I love to create new folio designs.  This one measures a generous 6 ¼” x 8 ½” with a 1” spine.  A cascade of antique roses flows down the side of the album.

Tip: Alter your flowers with Decades Ink Pads and a blending tool. I aged the rose petals on these flowers by brushing them with Dark Cashmere Decades Ink.

These Shabby Chic Staples Metals have been altered with black gesso and gold paint to match the colors in the paper.  The Ornate Key has been layered over the door plate while the knob decorates the top of the spine.

I love pockets, so I added a lot of them to this folio design.  The first fold of the folio is a half page side pocket filled with some pretty art tags. I love how quickly these come together thanks to the Staples Black Square Tags and the Staples Square Tag and Clock Dies.

Tip: Create quick pockets and tuck spots on your tags for interactive fun.  Adhere the sides and bottom of an image from Lovely Lyrics. Tuck in images from the same page, tie on some ribbon and more keys and you have a tag in no time.  Adhere just the edges of a fussy cut image from “Love Notes” for an unexpected, shaped tuck spot.

Tip: Policy Envelopes make quick and stylish pocket inserts.  These Regular Black Policy Envelopes will each hold several photos, protecting them from wear and tear while looking quite chic.

Tags and pockets go together like music and lyrics!  Cover these Regular black tags quickly when you use the Regular Tag and Gears Die.  And ATC Red Policy Envelopes make a fun flap feature. Just adhere the flap of the envelope to your surface.  I’ve used more of the keys to decorate these pretty little envelopes.

The front of each tag opens to reveal a mini photo album.  Behind the tags, I’ve tucked in a Large Black Tag as a surprise insert.

Tip: Use your scraps and leftover bits to create cards.

I used the scraps I had left from making the folio to create a pretty pink Valentine Shaker Card.

I changed up the color palette by adding pink accents instead of red.  This really is a wonderfully versatile collection!" ~Kathy
