Mixed Media Done 3 Ways

Hello, G45ers!

Happy Friday crafters!  We are excited to kick off your weekend with 3 inspirational Mixed Media Projects, including a Tiny Mini Album, Layout, and Tag.  All three of these gorgeous projects have been created by Brand Ambassador, Glenys Vidal.  To honor our #G45MixedMedia – July Challenge Glenys went outside her comfort zone to try something new, and we think you are going to love the results.  Grab your papers, inks, and Metal Dies and let's create something new together!

Glenys Vidal

“Hello G45ers, today I want to share with you a few projects inspired by this month’s Facebook challenge, “create a mixed media project using Graphic 45 products”.

I have to confess that I am not a mixed media expert, I am more of a paper/scissor scrapbooker at heart, but I love all types of crafts and get so inspired by watching other artists’ creations. So I decided to join in on the fun and make a few examples that I hope will inspire you to create your own art with this month’s challenge.

Project 1:

Mixed Media Tag Album

For the first project I created a tiny mini album using the Sunkissed collection. Inspired by the colors of the sea, I used pearl beads, gesso, sand texture paste, paints, glitter, and a lifeboat plastic toy that I found at the dollar store to create a fun nautical theme. This is the tiniest mini album I have made so far, but it is still is perfect for photos from a trip to the beach.

Project 2:

Reaching Your Dreams Mixed Media 12×12 Layout

For this project I was so inspired by my daughter’s strength, reaching her dream and graduating with a master’s degree from her dream university that I created a 12 x 12 layout that I will use to display in my office. For this project, I used metal and wood embellishments that were all painted with black gesso and distressed with inks and gold wax.

I used papers from the Communique – Deluxe Collector’s Edition to create layers and dimension. The colors of the collection match perfectly to her university’s colors.

Project 3:

Communique Mixed Media Altered Tag

This project was just pure fun to make! I altered a black square tag for an inspirational decor piece. I used the clock metal die and a chipboard embellishment from the Communique – Deluxe Collector’s Edition. Black paint and gold wax created a beautiful background.

G45 Tip:

Cut your dies images a couple times and adhere them together to create stronger pieces that you can paint or alter.

I hope these projects had given you some inspiration. Join the fun, and challenge yourself to create some art this month. Thank you so much for reading, I hope to see you soon with more projects.”
