“Two Cards Two techniques with foil and Betterpress Plates

Today I’m excited to share two cards I created using the beautiful Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag BetterPress Plate & Die Set from Graphic 45.

What I really love about this set is its versatility. The plates and coordinating die can be used both with the BetterPress system or with Glimmer Hot Foil, allowing you to achieve different finishes depending on the look you want.

For these two cards, I decided to work with Glimmer Hot Foil to add a touch of shine and elegance. I also had fun experimenting with two different techniques using the same plate: the positive foil result and the reverse foil technique.

On the first card, I used the plate in the traditional way to create the beautiful positive foiled image, where the design appears in shiny foil on the cardstock. This technique really highlights the intricate details of the frame and tag design.

For the second card, I tried the reverse technique, using the leftover foil to create a softer and slightly distressed look. I love how this method gives a completely different effect while using the same plate, making it a great way to get even more creative possibilities from one product.

Both cards were then finished with layers of patterned paper and embellishments to complement the magical Wonder of Oz theme.

I hope these projects inspire you to experiment with different foiling techniques and to explore the many creative possibilities of the Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag BetterPress Plate & Die Set.

I hope you like this fun cards! Enjoy the tutorial!!

Tips for Success

  • Save your foil scraps! The leftover foil from your first impression can create a beautifully soft and distressed reverse design.
  •  Experiment with pressure and cardstock—different materials can give you varied results with both BetterPress and foiling.
  • Keep your design cohesive by pulling colors and patterns from your paper collection when layering.
  • Use the same plate in multiple ways to stretch your supplies and spark creativity.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix techniques—combining BetterPress and hot foil can add extra dimension and shine.

We hope this tutorial inspires you to explore new foiling techniques and make the most of every material in your craft room. With just one plate and a little creativity, the possibilities are endless! Be sure to watch Teresa’s full video tutorial for step-by-step guidance and even more inspiration.
