3D POP-UP MONSTER HOUSE ALBUM

“A Haunted Tale in Paper & Light”

Tutorial by Crafter Sabaa

“As the shadows grow longer and October winds whisper through the trees, it’s time to crack open the crafting vault for a spellbinding Halloween creation… and this year, I’ve conjured up something truly magical: a
3D Pop-Up Monster House Album that glows with ghostly charm!

Welcome to the haunted side of crafting.

The Monster House: A Spine-Tingling Centerpiece

Imagine a crumbling house standing in eerie silence under a haunted sky, its broken windows flickering with mysterious lights, bats circling above, and a ghost peeking through the arched door. This is no ordinary mini album — this is a mini world of spooks sculpted in layers of paper and detail.

The top of the album showcases a 3D haunted house, brought to life with dimensional roofing, spooky textures, mossy growths, and even a tiny ghost in the doorway. But the real magic? I installed a working light setup behind the windows — flickering like lanterns in a long-forgotten manor. With a switch, the story turns from paper to theater.

I have made this Spooky Album using Ghostly Greetings Retail Package from Graphic 45

Flip Open the Fear… (Or the Fun!)

Open the album and step into a different Halloween tale on every page:

First Spread: A cheerful jack-o’-lantern beams beneath a witch’s hat, surrounded by floral arrangements, pumpkins, and flickering candlelight. The words “Hey Pumpkin” peek through — because even haunted houses need a little humor.

Second Spread: A moody, candlelit chamber with dripping wax, golden flames, skulls, and creeping vines. A ghost floats above, caught mid-drift. The backdrop: a checkerboard pattern that gives a perfect vibe. The caption reads: “Oh Bats!” — because what’s Halloween without a bit of squeak and flutter?

Third Popup Page: “I Put a Spell on You” Page

This spooky pop-up page brings a touch of eerie magic to life! As the page opens, a haunted house pops up under a glowing full moon, surrounded by twisted trees, cobwebs, and fluttering bats.

In front stands a 3D tombstone with the words “I put a spell on you,” framed by flowers and a flickering candle — adding a soft, vintage charm to the dark, whimsical scene.

Every detail is handcrafted and layered to create depth and dimension, making this page feel like a tiny Halloween storybook come alive.

Each page pops up with layered elements, giving that immersive 3D effect — perfect for storytelling, gifting, or just proudly displaying as spooky home decor.

Behind the Magic — Full Tutorial on YouTube!

This project might look like witchcraft, but I promise — it’s all paper, glue, and imagination (plus a bit of LED lighting!). I’ve created a step-by-step video tutorial on my YouTube channel where I take you through the entire process: from building the Pop-up Page, assembling all the pages together, attaching with the cover page and its decoration.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, you’ll find plenty of tricks (and treats) in this tutorial.

Tips & Tricks for Creating Your Own Pop-Up Album

  1. Start with a Strong Base:
Use sturdy Graphic 45 Chipboard Sheets for your album cover and base pages. A solid foundation ensures your pop-ups stay crisp and stable over time.

  2. Plan the Pop-Up Before You Glue:
Sketch or test your fold mechanisms on scrap paper first. Pop-ups are all about precision — even a small misalignment can affect how the pages open.

  3. Layer for Drama:
Combine flat ephemera pieces with foam adhesive and paper cutouts to create instant 3D effects. The depth adds realism and storytelling power.

  4. Add Light, Literally:
A tiny LED tea light or mini string light (like Sabaa used) can transform your project from cute to captivating. Secure your wiring between chipboard layers for a clean finish.

  5. Embrace the Imperfect:
Spooky scenes love a little mess — torn edges, ink smudges, and distressed paper only add to the haunted charm!

  6. Tell a Story:
Each page can represent a moment — a pumpkin patch memory, a haunted parlor, or a spellbook scene. Think of your album as a paper movie reel.
