Graphic 45 Mon Amour
Cake Box Display & Photo Book Set
By Jenn DuBell
“Hello everyone! For this month’s #G45HomeDecor challenge, I have used the beautiful Mon Amour collection to create a fun display piece with a tiny photo book tucked inside.
This fun project started with the Graphic 45 Stacking Circles Box Set which I prepared by painting with a matte parchment colored acrylic paint on all edges that were not being covered with paper.
The insides of the bottom tier (large circle box) were lined with Dearest Darling (A),Mon Amour (B), and True Love (A).
The lid underside rim was not painted to ensure a good fit on the box. The boxes were adhered together and the outside of the circles were decorated in the papers as explained in my walkthrough.
Once all of the paper was applied, I added the top frame and both fussy cut flowers and flowers from Graphic 45 Rose Bouquet Collection Classic Ivory & Natural Linen (Used Classic Ivory) and
Graphic 45 Rose Bouquet Collection Triumphant Red. The red roses were lightly dry brushed using the matte parchment colored acrylic paint.
Next, I created a fun little 4” photo book to tuck inside the bottom tier. This was done using the
Graphic 45 12X12 Black Chipboard Sheets(10 pack). All corners on these pieces were rounded. Two 4 ¼”X4 ¼” were cut for the cover and back and a 1 ½”X4 ¼” for the spine. These were adhered together using black cardstock hinges to create a book. For the pages I used black cardstock cut to 4 ⅜”X4 ⅛”. Five of these were cut and scored on one side at ¼”. They were then attached to the spine in a waterfall style adhering the ¼” scored hinges.
Twelve 4”X4” pieces were cut from the Graphic 45 Mon Amour 8X8 Collector’s Edition as seen below.
An additional two 4”X4” and a 1 ¾”X 4” were cut for the cover, back, and spine. All corners of the papers were rounded before adhering to the book and pages. The cover image was fussy cut from the 8” Mon Amour (A).
For the inside and back inside covers, I created tuck pockets using the 8” Dearest Darling (A) that measure 4 ¼”X2” and added a strip of the black glitter washi to the tops as seen in the finished book.
The pages were embellished using fussy cuts, cut images, and chipboards from the collection. Small scraps of the black chipboard were used to place the embellishments at different levels to create dimension and tuck spots. For the chipboard pieces with holes, I used the black Graphic 45 Matte Pearl Gems to cover them.
For the closure, I have used the Graphic 45 Photogenic Black Trim in the chevron pattern. Once all of the decorating was completed the photo book tucked inside the box. I love this project and I hope you do as well!
