Seasons of Love Crate with Tag

Hello, G45ers!

Welcome to a blissful post celebrating our Seasons collection.  Today, Kathy Clement shares a bold and beautiful crate of tags, using our Staples – Regular Tag Album.  Not only does Kathy share gorgeous detailed photos of all the beautiful layers each tag has to offer, but she also shares 5 tips that will help take your papercrafting to the next level.  Following these tags, we have a card set with a video tutorial by Magda Cortez using our Seasons collection.  So pull out your fussy cutting scissors and let's have some fun!

Seasons of Love Crate with Tags

By Kathy Clement

“Love is always in season, wouldn’t you agree?  Back in February, I broke out my gorgeous Graphic 45 Seasons collection to put together a sweet altered mini crate filled with lovely winter art tags. Although Valentine's’ Day is over and gone, you could easily adapt this idea for any holiday or special occasion.  Just select a different “season” from the collection!

One of the things I love most about creating with my G45 papers is that every single collection is just loaded with gorgeous elements that can be fussy cut and layered to create an amazing design.

Mini crates are a fun crafting trend right now, and readily available at most craft stores.  Dressing a crate up with the Seasons Winter pages was a fun and easy project.

Filling your altered mini crate with Staples Regular Ivory Tags takes so much less time when you create your own  “assembly line”.

Tip: If you’re lucky enough to have the new Staples Tag and Gears dies, it’s a cinch to cover your Staples Regular Tag. Simply die cut and adhere with your favorite adhesive.

Don’t have these fabulous new dies in your stash yet?  No worries! Simply cover each tag base (front and back) with a 3.75” x 4.75” rectangle of red or aqua cardstock. To give your tags a finished, professional look, round the corners with a ¼” corner rounder punch.

Tip: For a perfect color match, use the solids side of the Seasons Patterns and Solids pad. Use a ¼” corner rounding punch to add a finished edge.

Tip: Take a few minutes before you begin decorating your tags and do all your fussy cutting.  Cut border strips to the desired length and round the corners. I typically make separate piles on my work desk with images, fussy cuts, mats, embellishments and bows all neatly laid out so I can just grab and go.

Leave the back side of each tag blank for photos.  A simple belly band cut from Seasons Patterns and Solids dresses up the backside of the tag.  And chocolate is always a welcome addition!

Tip: Use repositionable glue dots to secure an individually wrapped chocolate to the back of each tag.

Tip: If you add fussy cut embellishments to a photo mount area, be sure to glue just one edge to the paper.  This will leave an open edge so that photos can be slipped underneath.

And don’t forget to decorate the sides of your crate!  Stickers, cut apart images and elements like this ribbon slide from Seasons Tags & Pockets are great options for this task.

Seasons Pockets and Tags fit perfectly on a Regular Staples Tag.  I paired this one up with the reverse side of an ephemera card, then added a felt heart, buttons and flowers to complete the tag design. The tag inside the pocket provides a lovely spot to write a personal greeting.

This project idea lends itself to any special occasion.  For a new baby, use Little Darlings DCE. This altered mini crate would make a gorgeous Mother’s Day gift done up with Floral Shoppe.  And your beach house would look extra festive with an altered mini crate created with Sun Kissed. Whatever the celebration calls for, Graphic 45 has a collection to match.  No wonder we all love it so much!”
