G45 Mix and Match Challenge – “Blossoming Bicycle”

By Aleksandra Mihelič

“Hello, my dear Graphic 45 friends. This month we have a special challenge for you at Graphic 45 blog, which is really close to my heart and I’m so happy and excited to be able to be a part of it and bring you some inspiration for it. I love mixing and matching Graphic 45 collections. I find it to be so rewarding and so easy to do. All the Graphic 45 collections are gorgeous, each in its own way, but they all have some elements and characteristics that are so unique to Graphic 45 brand and go so well together. So the mixing thing is quite easy.

I had this gorgeous Vintage Bicycle from mdf bases in my stash and I felt it was perfect for this task. Especially with spring being here, all the gorgeous blossoms, birds, butterflies, sunshine,… So I grabbed few different Graphic 45 collections with blossoms (which is not hard, because you can find gorgeous flowers in most of their beautiful collections) and made this lovely home decor piece. Hope you’ll like it.

I colored the Bicycle with white gesso and white acrylic paint. I could paint it in some color, but I wanted to keep it white to give my project more of a shabby and soft look.

I used several Graphic 45 collections – Botanical Tea collection, Secret Garden collection, Flutter collection, Once upon a Springtime collection and also Ladies Diary collection. I love how well they go together, don’t you think?

Here are some close-ups from my project:

Tip: I love to add some natural chipboard pieces in between when making flower clusters and compositions. They add to the variety, richness and interest of the project.

Tip: Little details are very important with such projects. And nests don’t need to always be used only for birds. 🙂 Let your imagination fly high. 🙂

Tip: I always try to use some quotes on my projects. I love if my home decor and gift art pieces also have some added value and uplift the one who is receiving it.

Tip: “Flower on flower” clusters are another thing I love to do. It gives so much richness to the project if you layer up a flower and a cut-out on top.

Tip: And of course, don’t forget to embellish what seem to be not so important part of your project. Try to look at opportunities and parts of the project that are most fun to embellish.
