Spring Tags Tutorial

By Kavi Tha

“Hello, G45 fans,

Today I share a couple of layered tags in spring theme using the gorgeous and sunny Garden Goddess collection, it perfectly fits spring projects. Creating layers can be overwhelming sometimes, so I want to share few easy steps to create layers on your projects, this can be applied to any project you make such as cards, album covers, layouts, etc.

Step 1: I took the regular ivory tags and cut the first layer with the dies and cut two more layers of pattern papers slightly smaller than the base. Apart from the base, you can add up to three layers, here I stopped with two.

Staple the layers together instead of gluing, this allows you to tuck in embellishments later…Add foam tape or scrap pieces of chipboard to the back. Remember while layering don’t glue it till the end, always leave half an inch space on all sides, this gives room to tuck in elements and room for adjustments if needed

Fussy cut elements from the paper pack, it can be confusing when you start to cut from a whole paper but do not worry, you don’t need full elements for layering. As you can see you need only half of them as the other half goes inside while gluing.

Gather all the embellishments. Here I took die-cut elements in both cardstock and pattern papers, chipboard designs, and some flowers. I cut the large chipboard elements into half as it’s quite big to fit in the design.

Glue the layers of pattern paper to the tag base and for the first layer add the bigger elements while adding the elements always glue only the center part and not the whole thing, this gives the more fluffy look the layers.

For the second and last layer add the flowers in the center and add the smaller elements around it.
