Waterfall Folio Card
Tutorial by Evanjelene
“Featuring the magical Wonder of Oz Collection
Ever made a waterfall card where you have to pull a tab to see the magic?
Well… not this time 🕰️
This one does the work for you.
As soon as you open the card, the waterfall starts flipping automatically like Dorothy stepping into Oz and everything coming alive!
Let’s build this little piece of paper magic.

Create Your Own Waterfall Folio Card with Eva
Supplies Used
- Kraft cardstock
- Pattern papers from Wonder of Oz Collection
- Chipboard & ephemera (Wonder of Oz)
- Paper trimmer & scoring tool
- Strong adhesive (very important for moving parts)
- Field of Poppies Embossing folder

Step 1: Build the Magic Mechanism
This is the brain + heart of your card, so treat it well
- Take Kraft paper: 9.75” x 2”
- Score at:
2”, 8”, 8.25”, 8.50”, 8.75”, 9”, 9.25”, 9.50”, 9.75”
Now fold along all the score lines.
👉 The tiny close score lines at the end will create the waterfall steps
👉 The 2” section is your secret pull tab
- Fold the 2” section in the opposite direction
💡 It should now look like a Z-shape
(If it doesn’t… don’t panic, just refold)

Step 2: Create Your Frames (The Story Pages)
Time to bring in the Oz vibes 🌈
- Cut 7 pieces of patterned paper: 4” x 4”
- Mix and match from the collection
- I went with a blue + yellow them

Step 3: Assemble the Waterfall
This is where things start getting fun…
- Start sticking each 4×4 frame onto the mechanism
- Apply glue only on the top edge of each step
- Stick one frame at a time
⚠️ After sticking each piece:
👉 Fold and test immediately
You should see a smooth flipping motion forming already

Step 4: Lock the Mechanism in Place
Let’s stop things from flying around
- Take a strip: 6” x 0.5”
- Gently fold it over the mechanism
- Stick:
- One side → last frame
- Other side → card base (later step)
👉 This acts like a seatbelt for your waterfall

Step 5: Create the Folio Base
Your stage for the magic show 🎭
- Take Kraft paper: 12” x 4”
- Score & fold at 8”
Now decorate:
- Add your favourite patterned papers from the Wonder of Oz collection

Step 6: The Special Twist (Auto Waterfall Magic!)
Here’s what makes this card extra special 👇
- Take the 2” tab from your mechanism
- Stick it to the inside folded edge of the card base
👉 So when you open the card…
✨ the tab pulls automatically
✨ the waterfall flips on its own
No pulling needed.
No instructions needed.

Step 7: Finishing Touches
- Add texture using a poppy embossing folder
- Keep the cover minimal and elegant
- Use chipboard & ephemera from Wonder of Oz
This card is basically a tiny theatre
You open it and the show begins automatically.
No pulling. No guessing. Just magic unfolding one flip at a time
And honestly… if that’s not a little bit of Oz magic, what is? 🌈
Stay magical,
