Hello, G45ers!

Let's kick off this week with a Mixed Media Wall Hanging by Kasia Bogatko.  This beautiful sign was created in celebration of our  #G45DarkSide - October Challenge.  Kasia has used our Old Curiosity Shoppe - Deluxe Collector’s Edition and Metal Staples.  So pull out your inks and your metal embellishments and let's get our hands dirty!

Old Curiosity Shoppe Sign

By Kasia Bogatko

Hello, Graphic 45 Fans! Today I have for you a project for our monthly challenge. This time we make something from #G45DarkSide

I know that many of you are thinking about Halloween this month. In Poland, where I come from, this is not a popular holiday. However, I really wanted to do something in this style. Something dark, a little strange, which may be a decoration for Halloween, but it will also work as a year-round project.

I reached for the Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection, which is one of my favorites and one of the first I have worked with. In this collection you will find a lot of details to cut, beautiful butterflies, vintage letters, intriguing bottles - I used all of this to create this shop sign. I wanted to make a project that would look old, rusted, hidden among the moss, a sign leading to a mysterious store with lots of strange things.

In this project, I wanted to show how easily you can combine paper with paints and the media. How well they interact with each other, creating together a coherent composition. The most important thing is to add a bit of used paints or pastes to the paper elements so that they blend seamlessly into the background.

I hope that my project will inspire you to take part in our challenge. Or maybe you will try to play with the media? I am very curious!” ~Kasia

What a welcome to the dark side! My favorite dark side paper is also The Olde Curiousity Shoppe! It fits in so well with the feeling! Here's to mixed media!

Kasia, your decoration is so detailed and so eerie, I love it. One of my favorite collections is the Olde Curiosity Shoppe with so many images to use. Thanks G45 for starting out this week with a little darkness.

Wow! I really enjoyed this video. What a great project to see come to life! When I'm layering I always have problems covering other items that I just want to see...but this bold and wonderful project does that but I still 'see' the other interesting elements included! TFS! Wonderful!
