Step-by-Step Desktop Organizer

By Karan Gerber

“Hello G45ers, it is Karan here to share what I put together for some great desktop storage for your favorite Graphic 45 Dies and Inks.

When I was browsing ahead at the schedule for the team, I saw that we had a #G45 CraftStorage Challenge is coming up, so I looked for ideas that would suit my space. I found this Palermo Creative Storage Project by Tonic Studios. I have to admit, I ordered this in January, knowing I had a Challenge coming and waited until I had the Beach is Calling in my Hands to complete this project.

This Palermo Unit measures approximately 12.5 inches long, 6 inches high and 5.5 inches deep. The drawers are 5.25 long 3.5 wide and 3 inches high.

The three drawers are strong when assembled, and I decided to spray with a distress stain( Lost Shadow)  and let them dry. I did the same with the base. I sprayed it with Distress Stain ( Vintage Photo).   The front of the drawers also had a ⅛” layering panels that I traced out on papers I chose and then I adhered to the front of the drawers. It really adds a bit of strength to them too.

It is a very strong and sturdy base with MDF top and sides. What I really love about this project, it had layering panels cut ⅛” shorter on all sides so you could very easily trace it out onto paper, fussy cut out and adhere it to the base, it was really that easy. This is what it looked like prior to any color.  While I was waiting for the base to dry, I assembled the drawers. These came about rather quickly, so I left the adhesive dry.

I added some distress stain to the drawers and when they were dry I inked with G45 Linen. You can see the base in the background. We live on a lake and I really wanted to use the Graphic 45 Beach is Calling. After choosing my papers, I used the pieces in the kit to trace out and cover one side, ( you need to make sure your text is going the right way on the side panels.

I really love how this turned out, the drawers are the perfect size for the G45 Inks

And the top shelf, is the perfect length for the G45 Die sets that i have in storage envelopes.

I hope you like my #G45CraftStorage idea for the challenge and hope I have inspired you.” ~Karan
