Hello, G45ers!
It is time to clean up your desk and keep it organized with this classy DIY Desk Caddy. Today on the Graphic 45 blog, Joanne Bain shares a brilliant tutorial on how to create your own craft organizer using our new Bird Song – Deluxe Collector's Edition and Black Chipboard 12×12 Sheets. This caddy is perfect for storing your scrapbooking supplies such as inks and embellishments, but it would also be great to store mail. Have fun creating your own Desk Caddy and when you do be sure to share it with us on Instagram using the #Graphic45 hashtag.
‘Desk Caddy’
By Joanne Bain
“Hello, G45er’s, Joanne here with you today to share a desk caddy I created for the #G45Box challenge this month(starting soon). This little caddy will help you to keep your G45 supplies close at hand.
To create the base of the caddy I used two 12×12 sheets of the G45 chipboard sheets. I have made it wide enough so it fits most of the G45 staples nicely inside.
I have made 3 chipboard petitions on the inside of the caddy so that it allows products to be divided but also to give the caddy a little bit of extra strength to help stop it from bending or buckling.
To dress the caddy I have added a set of the G45 Claw Feet, a single Door Pull to the front and then some of the Ornate Metal Corners to finish it off.
To decorate the box I chose to use the newest Deluxe Collector's Edition Bird Song. I have added a step by step tutorial below to show you how to create the box.
Step 1. You will need a sheet of black chipboard and a ruler. Draw lines at the measurements shown below.
Step 2. Now draw additional lines as shown below. Then cut away the unwanted chipboard as shown.
Step 3. Your cardboard should now look like the image below. Now score along the lines as shown.
Step 4. Fold chipboard along score lines as shown below.
Step 5. Now you will need another piece of chipboard to create the front and back of the caddy. Measure out front and back as shown below.
Step 6. Cut out pieces. Your pieces should look like the ones below. Score lines that are left and fold.
Step 7. Now measure out for the inside dividers. Mark out the same as the image shown below.
Step 8. Cut out pieces and the score lines and fold as shown below.
Step 9. Now assemble box as shown below.
I hope I have inspired you to give this caddy a try, it really is a simple storage solution.
