Create a new style of card with us this week, the Envelope Card. Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador, Anna Sigga has created an easy to follow video tutorial teaching us how to create these super cute DIY Envelopes perfect for an occasion. We love how these turned out with our Cottage Life paper collection, but the real beauty of this project is that it could be done with any paper collection.
Cottage Life – Envelope Cards
By Anna Sigga
“The colors in the Cottage Life collection are beautiful and ever so soft. I wanted to focus on the Solids and Patterns because they look just stunning and perfect for this project.
I start by cutting the extra part of the paper to measure exactly 12×12 inches. Then I score the paper at 6 inches, turn it and score it at 6 inches again.
Then I fold the paper on the score lines to make them sharper. Then each corner of the 12×12 paper is folded towards where the score lines meet and repeated for all four corners to create a square of the sort.
Next, fold the square into a rectangle, which is your envelope’s base. Then you cut one of the flaps away, and your shape is ready. Now take the time to ink all the edges if you want.
Adhere the section of the back of the envelope and make sure not to add adhesive to the flaps on the front. Those flaps create the pocket where you house your greeting.
Then add adhesive to the back rectangle part and fold them together in order to create a sturdy envelope card. All that is left is to decorate the card as much as your heart desires.
The greeting “card” that you place inside the card is 4×8 inches, and I recommend rounding the edges. Of course, adding a small stamped image is always a great idea.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and make sure to tag your Graphic 45 creations so we can find them on social media.” ~Anna Sigga
