Hello, G45ers!
It is the first Friday of Summer, and Graphic is here with your daily dose of refreshing craft inspiration. Today, we are sharing Kathy Clement's masterful Master Detective bendi card! Kathy uses multiple layers to give this card a lively three-dimensional look. Be sure to magnify those images to see all the lovely fussy cut details she has added. This card would be a great gift for many occasions, such as birthdays, Father's Day, or just a thinking of you for a friend.
Before we get started, it is time to announce this week's lucky, randomly chosen, blog prize winner! The winner is…..Beth Leftwich Beery! She commented on Facebook to say, "Love how you use the fussy cut pieces from the paper sparingly. It actually makes them stand out more. This is really beautiful, thanks for sharing!!" Congratulations, Beth. Please email info@g45papers.com to claim your prize.
On that note, time is running out to get in on the June Challenge #G45Gentleman. Details for how to enter are below.

Master Detective Bendi Card
By Kathy Clement
“You know that old saying, “the family that plays together, stays together”? Well, that was never more true than in our family. My husband Dale spent endless hours playing all kinds of board games with our 5 children while they were growing up. We had an entire closet devoted to games! Weekend after weekend you could find them all huddled around a big bowl of popcorn on the table as they happily conquered the world or solved a mystery. Now that they are all grown, our family gatherings inevitably include time spent around the table playing games.
When Graphic 45 released the fabulous new Master Detective collection, it took me right back to those happy days when the kids were young and “the game was afoot.” What could possibly make better Father’s Day card for my husband than this whimsical Bendi Card that commemorates all those magical hours playing games and bonding as a family?” ~Kathy Clement
Designer Tips:
-
Cut border strips from the 8×8 collection to make rosettes to embellish your card. Score the border strips at ¼” intervals, accordion fold, glue the ends together, then press down into a small puddle of hot glue to seal the center. Top the rosettes with a chipboard button from the Master Detective Collection.
-
Add dimension and depth to your project by backing fussy cut images with waste chipboard. I find that Priority Mail boxes are just the right thickness and I can cut them to exactly the size needed.
-
I created a border pocket for this card by fussy cutting the floral design from “Beautiful Mystery”. I glued just the bottom edge to my Bendi Card base. It’s the perfect spot to tuck a gift card for Dad.
-
Paper Tole is the art of making 3 Dimensional pictures from flat prints. It’s so easy to create a paper tole effect and it adds lots of dimension to a project. I fussy cut the pipe from the Sherlock Holmes card backed it with chipboard and glued it over the pipe on a second card. The pipe really pops off the page.
-
This large Bendi Card is 9” wide and almost as tall if you count in the height of the bookcase. I backed the houndstooth print from the 12×12 Patterns and Solids with a slightly larger piece of cardstock to add extra stability to the base.
