Botanical Mixed Media Card

By Kavi Tha

“Hello, dear friends,

Today I share a botanical theme card with little mixed media touches. I usually prefer to use a single collection but mixing and matching different collections from G45 is so fun. The main papers and elements are from the gorgeous Lost in Paradise collection and I combined it with fussy cut elements from various collections like Bloom, Nature sketchbook, Raining Cats and Dogs.

Take two layers of pattern papers measuring 5 by 7 inches and 4 â…ž by 6 â…ž inches. For layering use scraps of pattern papers and black cardstock. Layer the pieces as you like and staple them together so that it's easier to tuck in embellishments.

Stamp randomly using texture stamps and versafine ink or any other waterproof ink.

Arrange all the fussy cut elements around the layers and compose the design. There is no right or wrong, just keep doing it until you are satisfied. The best way to add some colors to your mixed media card without soaking the paper is to use oil pastels. Rub them over any smooth surface, spray some water and add it with a brush randomly in few places around the arrangement and also add some splatters all over.

Tip: Stamp some leaves and flowers on a vellum sheet and fussy cut them. They have a beautiful semi transparent look and looks good in between lyers. You can also use clear acetate sheet to get transparent elements

For the final step add some art ingredients like microbeads, glitters, and sequins using gel medium. These add beautiful textures and shine to your card.

Tip: Don't forget to add scrap chipboard pieces between the layers to get dimensional look

Tip: Also add some black and white splatters for more interesting and coherent look

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy crafting.”
