Hello, G45ers!
We are thrilled to share a bright and bold card for our #G45MixedMedia – July Challenge. This handmade card and tips are by the Master of Ink, Brand Ambassador, Kavitha. Kavi has used our Flutter paper collection to show off its vivid color pallet that goes so well with these mixed media techniques. We encourage you to play along and join our challenge.
#G45 Technique – Bright Mixed Media Card
By Kavitha
“Hello G45 fans, today I have a bright mixed card to share using Flutter collection. I absolutely love the luscious colour palette of this collection, and the black in this collection makes everything stand out.
I have a few steps easy steps to share to create your own watercolor background for your card.
Take a white heavyweight or watercolor cardstock something which can hold the water well, if you do not have you can prepare the base with a coat of clear gesso. Using a dry brush drop some color pigments randomly.
Spray a generous amount of water and allow them to flow in the direction you want and then heat set it using a heat gun.
Tip: Always dab of the excess water using tissue paper and do not allow the water to sit on paper for a long time
Add some texture stamping randomly using waterproof ink, this will add depth and texture to your card.
Tip: Use up to two, three different texture designs for visual interest.
Apply modeling paste through a stencil and while the paste is still wet, sprinkle embossing powder in few places and emboss it.
Once the background is fully dry and ready, mat it with black paper from “Patterns and solids” collection. I have used a few resin embellishments along with tons of fussy cut flowers and leaves and chipboard frame to decorate my card
Here are some close-ups, I love adding lots of layers and dimension to my projects.
Tip: For the final touch add seed beads, glass glitters and fine glitters to add some extra glam to your mixed media projects.
