Oversize Fun Folio Card

Hello, G45ers!

With Summer coming to an end, it is time to start up those crafting engines and start making those handmade holiday cards.  Today we bring you an Oversized Folio Card to fuel up your creativity.  This Christmas card had been created by Card Making Extraordinaire, Gloria Stengel.  Gloria used our new Joy to the World paper collection along with a few choice G45 Staples.  We encourage you to grab your favorite holiday papers and play along with us!

Joy to the World 8×8 Card Folio

By Gloria Stengel

“Merry Christmas, G45 Fans! I am in love with the NEW Joy to the World Collection. The beautiful color palette of traditional red and green paired with gold, blue, and pink is just stunning! I think that the vintage postcard feel of this collection is perfect! My two favorite images that G45 uses are postcards and postage stamps!

I created an 8” x 8” card folio with space for two photos on the inside. This is perfect for a holiday table display, or as a fun card to send to a special person.

I used the 12×12 collection, the 12×12 patterns and solids pad, and the 8×8 paper pad for this project. You can make this with just the 12×12 Collection Pack, but I had all the parts and pieces, so I used EVERYTHING! The large ephemera card is perfect as the focal image!

I created a lovely Christmas flower cluster, all topped with a sparkling dove and a jingle bell. I can almost feel the snow falling…and hear actual bells ringing!

Nothing says “holiday project” quite like a little glitter and some velvet leaves! The paper is so pretty, and seems to sparkle, too!

To tie the various colors together, I rubbed all the papers with Decades Triumphant Red ink. Giving the blue and gold, and yes even the pink, papers a bit of a red blush around the edges just makes everything pop!

The card opens to give you space for two photos (or some journaling)! I rubbed the photo mats with more of the Triumphant Red ink, just for fun!

Tip: I used a die cut template to cut doilies for this project, but you can buy pre-made doilies in the cake and candy decorating section of most craft stores. To give them extra pizzazz, rub them with ink!

The chipboard pieces and the tags and pockets punch-outs are great ways to add interest and texture to the project.

Tip: When using stickers, attach them to a piece of scrap cardstock or chipboard to give them extra substance. To create a tuck spot, only glue the outside edge of the sticker or border strip – that way you can slide a photo underneath.

Thanks for looking!” ~Gloria
