Hello, G45ers!
We have the perfect project to get your crafty mojo flowing for the weekend, an upcycled book turned into a junk journal. This brilliant DIY journal has been created by pulling the pages out of a hardback book and replacing them with Graphic 45's gorgeous Tropical Travelogue papers. The mastermind behind this gem is Brand Ambassador, Glenys Vidal. We encourage you to kick back and take in all the beauty and get fueled up on creativity and inspiration for the weekend.
Tropical Travelogue Travel Junk Journal
By Glenys Vidal
“Hello G45ers, I am so happy to be here again to share another project with you all. A travel junk journal using the amazing Tropical Travelogue collection. I was very inspired by a Club kit project that was offered last year ( Club G45 – Vol 8 ) and also by August Facebook challenge (Create or decorate a travel journal using Graphic 45 goodies), so I decided to combine both and create my own version of it.
Making travel albums is one of my favorite forms of scrapbooking. I love visiting new places and learning their history and customs. When I travel I usually return home with a bag full of brochures, tickets, boarding passes and lots of memorabilia. That’s when a junk journal with lots of pages comes in handy to document all my adventures.
For this project, I altered an old book with paints and used gold wax to accentuate the colors.
For the inside pages, I used papers from the Tropical Travelogue collection and other pieces that I have left from other completed projects. To bind my book I used waxed thread.
I wanted to use charms to decorate the spine of my journal, so I decided to use different metal items from my stash and stickers from the collection.
I am absolutely in love with all the images from this collection. I decorated most of my journal with just the cut apart papers from it.
The inside pages consist of four signatures (a group of sheets of papers, folded and bound together) they are full of interactive pieces that add interest to my album.
Here are some of my favorite inside pages:
I added envelopes decorated with the amazing stamps images from the collection. Perfect spot to hold boarding passes or tickets.
I love journaling in my albums, I want to not only add a picture but the story behind it.
And if you are like me that don't love your handwriting very much, having hidden journaling spots is great. They can only be seen if you want to.
I hope that you liked this project and that it has given you the inspiration to create your own. I will see you soon with more projects.”
