#SimplyG45 Autumn Folio

"Hello, G45’ers!  Have you avoided making mini albums or folios because they look too complicated, take too long and are too expensive to make?  Well, today’s post is just for you.  “This Autumn Time Folio in a Flash uses just 4 sheets of Graphic 45 designer paper, a few sheets of kraft cardstock, a handful of Black Staples square tags and a few other basic crafting tools that you probably already have in your stash.

 

I designed this 5” x 7” folio with the novice paper crafter in mind.  My goal was to create an attractive album that could be made in about an hour using minimal supplies, but I still wanted it to be cute and have fun interactive elements.  Thanks to the versatility and clever design of Graphic 45 papers, this was rather easy to accomplish.
 

The album or folio has 4 double-sided pages, side pockets, tag pockets, hidden journaling spots, and a fun hidden fold out page.

The tutorial below guides you step by step through the process of building the cover, the simple binding system, two styles of pockets, and the details that make the album really special.

Simple doesn’t have to mean boring.  Look at all the fun elements that are tucked into this side pocket!

 

I’ll show you how to use scraps to create quick and easy mini folios.  These are a great place to tuck wallet-sized photos, small souvenirs, tea bags, chocolates or other small treats.

 

Tip: Use border pieces to dress up a tag pocket.  This only takes a second but adds a real designer feel to a project.

 

Tip: Turn small images from cut apart pages into cleverly hidden journaling spots.  Place the image on a scrap of kraft cardstock, score a line on the left, fold in half and BAM!  Instant hidden journaling spot!
 

Interactive elements like this fold-out page will make you look like a paper crafting pro.  Only you and I will know how easy it is to add to a design!
 

 

Tip: Staples Tags make stylish photo mounts!  The pretty shaped edge and vintage grommet look fantastic when tucked into a pocket.  Square tags have room for a 4” x 4” photo on the front and on the back!  
 

 

Tip: Use the “B” Side!  The pretty patterned paper that decorates this tag is from the “B” side of A Place in Time’s September page. By cutting the patterned paper with the border strips attached, you’ve created an instant layered look with one simple cut.  You gotta love that!

While I designed this adorable album for beginning crafters or crafters in a time crunch, even more advanced papercrafters will appreciate the simple design.  And it’s easy to “dress it up” with more layers, embellishments and the like. The only limit is your own imagination.

• 6 sheets of 8.5” x 11” kraft cardstock, 80# weight or higher
• ¼” Scor-Tape
• Scoring Tool, Cutting Tool, Ruler, Bone Folder
• Bold Black Check Ribbon, 18”
• Burlap String
• Mini Clothespin, Novelty Button
• Adhesive of your choice
