STAR FOLD CARD

By Elisabeth Hogarth

Before I finish my festive card-making for 2022, I created one more design called the Star Fold Card.  It is a style that has been around for years and it never ceases to amaze me how quickly it comes together.

STAR FOLD CARD MEASUREMENTS

YOU WILL NEED

1 PLAIN SHEET OF CARDSTOCK – 8” X 8”

1 DECORATIVE SHEET OF CARDSTOCK – 7 6/8” X 7 6/8” (I used the Let’s Get Cozy and the Warm Wishes papers on my cards)

From these two squares carefully measure and mark out the triangle for the base and decorative mats.

1  Measure the half way point along the top of the square. Draw a vertical line down.

2  From the bottom right hand corner.  Use a ruler to align the 0” to the corner and the 8” to the centre vertical line.  Where the line meets the ruler make a mark.

3.  Repeat from the bottom light hand corner.

4.  Match up the marks and draw the lines to create an equilateral triangle.

(the dotted lines denote the fold lines)

5. Repeat the process again to measure the triangle to create the mats on the decorative paper

(the dotted lines denote the cutting lines)

My Graphic 45 Reel will show how to score and fold the card base and where to add the decorative papers.  I used the Let’s Get Cozy collection for the red and blue card.

However, the  Warm Wishes papers work just as effectively with green and gold card stock.

As you can see it is a very stylish card style and works brilliantly for your festive makes.  May I take this opportunity to wish you all a safe, happy and healthy Christmas.”

Love

Elisabeth

HINTS AND TIPS

Take your time measuring the triangles.  If you are precise at this stage the card will be easier to fold and slot together.

Use a T-Ruler to draw the straight lines.

Make sure the sentiment inside the card fits within the lines of the triangle.

To fix the triangle in place,  Slot one corner underneath each time.
