#G45Upcycle Princess Canister

“Hello everyone,

I know we are having a bad time, but we are all together in this, regardless of where we are. We have to have hope and BELIEVE, we will be ok. So this is the theme, the inspiration for my project.

For me, the best way to “heal” and to feel better, is to create, is what I love to do the most, except being with my dearest family of course.

So I share with you today a project that I hope can be an inspiration for you to create as well, with step by step instructions.

It’s an upcycled project.

And what do you think when we talk about upcycle? Transforming some ordinary things but looking kind of boring? If you use Graphic 45 your upcycled projects will never be boring, everything we cover will become “GOLD”, and you know why? Each and every single G45 collection is unique and amazing.

This month I remembered a can of coffee capsules that I had here to upcycle for a friend, for her to use in her daughters’ bedroom. So let’s see what I created!!

I just love the look of this can now, it’s ready to decorate wherever we want and to be used for storage (not for socks of course), but for awesome little princess secrets, even an album or a diary!!

So follow me in this step by step tutorial, so you can make your own upcycled can:

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL:

This was the can ( i already have two more to upcycle):

1-The first step was to paint white some parts in the can that will be visible in the end.

2-Then I grab these two sheets from the patterns and solids that I used to cover the can:

3- I grab two sheets with this pattern that I used both sides. I tore it this way, so the pattern stripes were wider than the solid stripes:

4-First I glued the two parts together in a big double strip piece in order to be long enough to cover all around the can:

5- I choose this lace to go on top:

6- And now the dimensional part. I glued two intricate decorative die cuts in white with some chipboard in between (this die is from spellbinders, you can use whatever you have):

7- I add a fussy cutted princess with flowers on the left because she is looking to the right. (this is the only element that I use from the collection pad, the other papers are from the pattern and solids pad). I also add some seam binding ribbon in a bow with a button, on the top right, to balance.

Tip: You can choose any princess you like or other fussy cutted element, as your focal point:

9- Now is the time for the 2 chipboards from the princess collection and the flowers, one in ivory that I inked with yellow, and one pink (the others are from my stash). You can also see some more embellishments like scraping chipboards and some sisal fiber, that you can add for more dimension and interest.
